K&n air filter. Is it worth?

So there you have it. No significant power or fuel consumption advantage, POSSIBLE problems with the MAF, and at Portuguese prices, you would see a cost saving after 16 years.... (though if you wished to be REALLY pedantic, you would need to factor in the theoretical interest the capital you tied up in the original purchase would earn over those 16 years). See DM's Post #6 for the short answer...

Sorry mate, but I change engine air filter every time I change my engine oil... that will be every year... so, in 4 year I already see my profit... and I also clean them myself, so there is no waste on foreign hand work... if you understand me...

K&N played an important part in race car tuning up to the late eighties (when cars got compulsaty EFI and ECUs to meet emissions requirements).

Performance discs and pads were also a very sensible upgrade over stock brakes. I used TarOx and they were very good.

The demise of the Ripspeed tuning shop in Edmonton (now just a Halfords brand) and Chris Montague carburator shop in Finchley Roas (now a scuba diving shop) signaled the end of an era when DIY mechanics could transform a car's performance at home and to a budget.
