Little daily driver with super fuel efficiency

The answer is so obvious that I am kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner.

I shall let you know in due time.

But it is not a shed of an S class, I have quite enough iron oxide on my drive as it is.

Good luck with it Charles. Its not what I would have chosen given your situation, but I will be very interested to read about how you get on with it.

Yes - it's not a Dacia

Honestly, you walked into that heffalump trap!

Of course! A 2CV...

Fills the Citroën gap, and will allow you to bring your eggs home from GX in one piece.

Please tell us how you get on with your Toyota Prius/Auris Hybrid, Charles.

I have to hand it to you Mocas, an inspired guess.

Now have to find one.

2CV are awful cars. If you've never driven one then I suggest you don't bother.

They serve a purpose and are fun in their own right, but not nice to drive. The steering weighs up incredibly when cornering and they are underpowered.

If you really want a car like that get an Ami 8 or better still a Super...the 1050 four pot engine makes all the difference.

An Ami Super with big block 1299 fitted... :D

A Mehari for summer fun...

I don't recall my sister's 2CV as being that horrible to drive, mind you that was 25 years ago. I am inclined however to treat what you say on Citroens as sensible, Will, so I shall do a little test drive.

Citroen 2CV= death trap in anything more than a minor collision  - all the strength in the chassis rails --- I hate to contemplate what a side collision would be like. :( Low-tech Magazine: The Citroen 2CV: cleantech from the 1940s I had a " environmentally aware" friend with a 2CV who, together with his young family, were all badly injured in a collision with a commercial vehicle. He said it folded like a pack of cards. He drives a Volvo now!

In the 80s I passed a 2CV that had been involved in a collision with a truck near Blackbushe airport ... the only recognisable bit was the bootlid and one rear wing. Occupant(s) would have had no chance.
