looking for a car for my mother in law

Personally speaking, I would recommend getting your mother in law to a dealership, and drive both the A, B and C class, to see what she feels comfortable with.

I found that the build quality of the B is not all that, haven't drive a recent A class so can't really compare, but I wasn't too impressed with the B personally.

C class coupe's are usually cheaper, but then again the sell cheaper as well when it comes to sale time.

Many years ago my father took our mother and us to see the car he was going to buy her, it was a Ferret armoured car, she was not amused but we were.

Les Dawson would have suggested something long, slow moving, estate car, black.....

I've got one of those.

When my chip failed recently it fitted all of the above criteria :thumb:.

IMO the A150 is underpowered so A B150 would be even worse. As suggested above you need to take her to a dealer and drive the different models and she what she prefers.

what did you guys go for. when she first asked she was toying with a honda, toyota and we did the rounds. patient as ever with her but in her mind she was set with a mercedes.

Well if the lady's heart is set on a Mercedes, then who are we to argue?
I was just pointing out that the As and the Bs were not MB's best efforts (in opinion of many) and rivals are better.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but in the end I couldn't resist the deal on a five door Fiesta auto 1.4 - modern, economical and stylish and major award winner.
Ford Retail Online are discounting heavily and mine came down by nearly £2,500 to £11,200 - brand new, 3 year guarantee, six months tax, 12 months AA. I see they are currently offering a 1.25 manual for only £8,495
I have done nearly 2,000 miles now and have to say it has a lovely big-car feel, and is very easy to live with. My wife prefers it to the Merc for every day driving (but that's women for you!!)
However, if it comes to a toss up between a three year old A series and a brand new Fiesta, then the head says it's a no-brainer. But try telling that to the MIL!!

She test drove all 3 and she has decided on c class saloon . If anyone has a good c class for sale let me know

Thanks
