You’d probably be as well, insteading of buying an E55K, buying all the parts brand new and building your own! :D

Don’t put ideas in his head!! :D

I’ve got big respect for you pal, even though I know they cost £££ to run, you’re doing your bit by keeping them “boxfresh”.

I've always been reminded of Trigger's Broom when I've read Gav's threads. :D

So a little detailing, cleaning up the pulley's engine face and other bits and bobs treating plastics and fan assembly etc

The new pipe work was eventually fitted to the Rad as this is the easiest way of dropping the new unit in, Negotiating the PAS pipes and engine cooler pipes along the way. If you dont fit them till you have fitted the rad and the Ac condenser the whole lot will have to come out again.

You cant or at least we couldn't fit the pipes as the Condenser was in the way.

Cycles through the gears after putting back 2.5 ltrs which is the amount of gearbox fluid i drained via the front ATF cooling pipework, and the level was bang on.

Drain approx 8ltrs of coolant in this process, we took it for a 5 miles drive topped it up the car bleed up very easy and the temp sat at just over 85 on the gauge , when stationary it hit 90 but then the stat immediately open and it dropped to 87 which is when the stat should open. I haven't seen it at a 100 yet. time will tell but im confident it's as it should be.

The ATF pipework Rad to box the forward sections are a Crush type YOU HAVE TO GET THESE TIGHT! bloody tight or they leak as id found out with brutus.

We got them fffing tight 1st time and no leaks

The gearbox is working seamlessly the only issue we had was once lowering the car and moving it from the garage to the driveway the Airmatic had a hissy fit saying visit workshop , The pump wasn't buzzing everything was perfect. we cycled the suspension up and down pump working as it should.

Drove the car and the message cleared. Pump kicked in and out as it should and is Good.

Im leaving the forward belly pan off for a week just so i can keep a eye on things then be refitting it. This car seems very original and its worth keeping that way.

Anyway im totally knackered, back hurts and cuts and bruises etc its a pitta of a Job but very rewarding. Hope you guys have enjoyed the updates, fingers crossed i can get some nice pic's of the car tomorrow.:thumb:

Just like to saying a MASSIVE thankyou to Andrew Gerrie, Service Manager at Mercedes Benz Waterhouse Chelmsford, Cracking prices on all the genuine MB parts used, Also brings parts home with him for me to collect as he's only in Colchester.

He is a fellow Petrol head and knows cars Volvo and Mb pretty much inside out.

Nice work Gav, wish I could have got some done on mine today but I did my back in this morning and the pain is so bad I struggle to get out of bed for a pee pee.

Mate i feel your pain i suffer with my back too, I ache all over after today pmsl, 40 this year and certainly feel it.... doh

AHE Radiator Was £106+ vat
Oil lines And thermostat was £90 plus vat

The above are my Trade prices but it gives peeps a idea of what costs are involved.

So far i've spent aprox just over £1,000 in my Ownership thats around £100 per 100 miles lol so i've now got to rain that in as im all spent out.
Rear tyres are on 4mm so are due replacing soon, dam its never ending lol.

Dam mate, How did you do it? is it a trapped nerve or summit?

Took a weird spasm at bottom of my back when brushing my teeth (tongue = gagging) and collapsed to the bathroom floor then a half hour to crawl back to bed.
First happened to me about 25 years ago changing one of the kids nappies (in car at side of road) and happens every now and then knocking me on my back for a few days.
Kind of like a trapped nerve that results in sharp spasm like pains with any movement so everything needs done slowly.
A lot better today, can do pee pee in 15 mins now as opposed to 30 yesterday. :)

^ Rough times Pat:(
Hope you are on the mend soon. A bad back is a bitch. It affects everything you try to do.
