Mercedes E63 Buying advice required newbie to AMG

Mine has a panoramic roof, and dynamic seats, they are fantastic for my poor old back. First thing I do is switched the massage seats on, to ease my pain when I get in. Then I press that accelerator, and all is forgotten 😁.

Get the best spec you can, and what you ideally would like. I have the older 6.2 engine, and I adore mine. We spend enough time in these cars to have to the most options available. Good luck with your search. 👍

One option my car has that I didn't realize it had, was through load system, on the saloon. Really handy. My E55 saloon didn't and I really think the through load system is handy.

The load through system is great.
My E55 had it, my E63 doesn't.

Not out of turn at all David.
My memory is letting me down and I'm wondering if in fact it is the same car I was about to buy.
I have a feeling its not, as I'm sure the one I was about to buy was an E63S. Never saw the reg but had the Vin# at the time which made me sure it had those extras I mentioned.

Not to worry, that is still a decent buy despite not many extra options.

Confirmed. The car in the Autotrader advert above is not the car I was about to purchase in 2019.
Hence the confusion over the specification. Sorry.

No need to apologise Roger. I can't even remember what day it is!

Have I got it right that red cars are more prone to fading and discolouration due to sunlight than other colours or am I talking rubbish again?

That used to be the case David. I don't know if the paint systems have progressed, but a good polish sealant and wax should preserve the colour. I'd have no hesitation in buying a Hyacinth Red car now.

It is a gorgeous colour

What year is yours? Any issues with the engine, head bolts or anything else?

Mine is a 2009 on a 59 plate. Engine wise its faultless, it is in the weak head blot era but the engine really is as smooth as silk on start up and idle. If maintained, serviced once a year and coolant changed every two year's. It should be fine. To much negative over hyped criticism this engine gets. All engines have troubles. I have honestly had no troubles. I had more issues with my E55. Can be luck of the draw I get that also.

I've had to replace a power steering pump to date. Will be two years in two months time of ownership. Been a fantastic car to own/run. Wear and tear items also but that's somewhat normality.

Had it on a few long trips and it's super place to be. And the noise it makes is V8 heaven 👍

Looks like the red one's gone. Ad still showing but click on it and it goes nowhere plus a message saying the advert is NLA

I'm not surprised that went quickly. You have to move immediately if something a little out of the ordinary becomes available.

You must be gutted. Imagine you were about to pull the trigger on that one.........

I was very tempted and it was on my current shortlist. Sadly I'm not in a position to pull the trigger immediately so I appreciate I'll miss out on one or two.

However, a few more have appeared in the last couple of weeks so perhaps with the onset of spring and the hope of restrictions being eased in the near future, sellers may be more willing to go to market.

This would have been useful info for me to know before I wasted my time in responding to your long list of pointless questions about my car. Lesson learned.

Morning guys just a quick one I’ve found a car i like from a used car dealer it’s a 2014 e63s would anyone be able to confirm if the service history and dates look correct please ? I’ve listed them below also where would be the best place to get a value of the car ? Personally i think what they are asking for is on the high side compared to others a year newer with less miles but with it being the e63s i know you pay a premium etc so would like some advice please if possible thank you

Is that the one that's been mapped by MSL? Looks like a good example - well serviced and good options, low mileage. Love the unusual paint option too.

Personally I think the second-hand premium for "S" models over "standard" is too high, but I guess it's rarity as well as the extras you're paying for. You can easily (and more cost-effectively) retro-fit LSD and get a remap for extra power, but the one aspect of the S I'd like, that's difficult/more expensive to upgrade is the suspension upgrades they had (I think?).

Bar a month here/there the service history is perfect.

where would be the best place to get a value of the car
It's incredibly difficult to get a reliable valuation on these cars, partly because the numbers sold are so low, and partly because ones with attractive colours / options can attract a premium and/or sell very quickly, while others stick to the forecourt.

You could try getting a WBAC valuation and then add around £4-5k to get an indication.

Oh, and to add: new discs and pads all round is something nice to have in the bank.

I've just tried Part ex the car back to them with the value your car option, and they value it at £26,077
