Mercedes 'My Service' at what cost?

I don't have and wasn't given a service book from MB. All service records are kept on MB computer. I was given print-outs from the two previous services.

And their records are not the best!

They can't see the first service on the car I have just bought, but there is a receipt proving it was done in the cars folder.

I think this digitised service record may bite Mercedes, less of a reason to have it done there imho if they are going to loose data like that.

Better to just get it done at an indy and keep receipts.

Is there 1 year breakdown 'mobilo' any good? Has anyone had to use them and is it a basic service or do they take you to your destination etc?

It is quite comprehensive home assistance loan car hotel cover etc go check whats included on mb website i have used before with no problems.

Thanks, I have break down cover but thats only for another 6 months. My service is due in around 3 months so that is a good incentive?

Could be yes get a quote and supply your own oil it will be cheaper, if you have more than one local dealer shop around for quotes.

I had in interesting conversation with the dealer I was buying my E350 from.
As the car was approaching 2 years old I 'mentioned' the servicing.
He said that because it was more than 4000 miles till the next service it wouldn't be done.
I was a bit miffed at this and said that being 2 years and 35k miles it would be a big one, service, with filters, brake fluid and gearbox fluid, said I could be hit with a £500+ bill 2 months into ownership.
He said it wouldn't be that much.
Hmmm?

I said I didn't want to go ahead unless it was serviced.

He did the service yesterday, and although the standard service was £349 the additional work brought the total to £1050.

Now, if I was paying the £34 a month for 3 services in 3 years, would all that be included or would I have to pay all the additional work?

Have you ever tried doing it yourself, by the way you could buy my car for £1040 fully serviced by me (ok so I'm exaggerating a bit!)... every time you service yours... already!.
After servicing your own car you feel like a god, you should give it a try some time there's plenty of people on these forums more than willing to help you?
P.S. Love the sound of your Brabus though - :D

Terrific. Used it a few times, most recently a month or two ago (flat battery). Superb service...

I have Skipton and Bradford equal distance apart. I have found Bradford to be highly professional but Skipton are hit and miss. There is also a Mercedes specialist in Skipton, do you think I could price match or at least use them to barter, or would they not be interested?

Probably the biiggest issue is on cars registered before 2008 they lose the 'minor mishap' cover after 3 years - the main likely issue there is probably anything that happens related to tyres that you can't sort out yourself (even just changing the wheel isn't something I'd fancy doing on dark motorway). It also covers loss of keys, wrong fuel and flat battery due to user error (ie leaving lights on).

Keep in mind that if you sit there and wait they have to carry out the service in a timely manner, they can not expect you to sit there for more then a couple of hours.

If you drop off the car before 10am they can squeeze it in for a service any time between 10amd and 4pm, so it's easier for them to sort out their daily workload.

Anyway, I think that £135 for a dealer A Service (LITE) is reasonable - given that this includes Mobilo and extension of the anti rust warranty.

(Some 3 years ago I paid £260 for an A Service at a London dealership - it was the car's third service from new - but I guess they offer discounts as the car gets older).

Took my daughter's VW for its first service recently - done by an Inchcape owned dealer, who also run a fair number of MB dealerships.

It was done on a "waiting" appointment but me sitting there seemed to cause them some anxiety with several prople wanting to check progress on the car. I was on my way within about 90mins, inc a very quick wash and vac.

Most intersting was the cost. It was covered by the £300 for 3 services VW deal but the service advisor told me the actual cost would be in line with their fixed price service of £139 (although they only offer that on 3+ cars) - but he gave me a copy of the invoice to VW...£68, inc VAT.
