Minor (albeit annoying) number plate issue

Hi, in an attempt to stop the screws from eventually rusting on my rear number plate, I bought some plastic caps from ebay. Unfortunately, the screws that MB presumably fitted when putting on the plates are too large (they are of the type where the thread is the same thickness all the way down, nut and bolt fashion) for the caps and I don't know where I could get larger sized caps from.

Its a C180K Coupe (facelift) - anyone got any advice?

Thanks in advance

I found the caps were of a standard size also when changing the plates on my C36. I ended up getting a number plate mounting plate which screwed into the car and the number plate stuck onto this, giving a cleaner look. On my E55 the number plate clips into the mounting plate. The mounting plates are available from the dealers.

When i went to MB of Milton Keynes they sold me the Clip mounting plates for £10 a pair and they fitted them for free whilst they MOT'd my car a couple years back
:D

Weheyyy :)! i like MB of MK! its a pretty nice dealership! a lot of people dont like them but they are pretty good with us... i guess cos we have 2 MB's and both cars have all of their work done by them

How rude.... thats not very nice...... you should demand the clip backing plate thingy!

MB MK are ok, they have a nice place and a few nice people there, i cant say ive been pleased with the attitude of the sales nor the service staff. i personally wouldnt use them again.

MB colchester gave me the plate holders for free, sales guys are friendly but seem to have no intention to sell cars, but service and parts guys get :thumb: , anything for free you cant go wrong!

but yes back on topic, the clip on ones are nice, but are alot more bulkier looking.

Good hardware shops sell bigger version of the same things - not in yellow though, only white

It's looking like the clip-ons folks, they have a touch of class about them I feel - another question - the rear plate has four drill holes - the clip-on looks lkike it has two obvious holes for screw attachment - would this make it sturdy enough? Don't want it falling off on the a1!

Cheers
