Hi all,

New here so i'll try my best - I have a 2003 ML with Comand 2.0 factory installed.

I can access the 'Aux In' through the menu and it is active, however there is no aux in lead / socket (really there is not!).

Two question I guess:

1) How do you remove the Comand unit to connect the aux in cable (any special tools required?)?

2) Is there a cable available from MB to connect the aux in up?

I understand that this subject recieves alot of requests but i do feel it would be useful to all as i have not yet found an answer to this specific scenario.

Many thanks in advance,

FreddieA

Yes and yes.

You need two removal keys. Sometimes free from your local dealer plus an Aux in cable about £20 and four pins to connect into your C2 connector (if you have one) If not, you'll need a C2 connector also. Whole job can be done for £30 worth of parts. Take a look at Richards excellent website at http://www.mercupgrades.com. the parts you need are detailed in there.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply! can you post the link to the relavant part of Richards site? Perhaps I have become 'Aux-In' blind, you know can't see the wood for the trees, I have spent far too long researching this.

Thanks again.

If you dont already have a C2 connector then you will need the following;

A000 545 42 30 x 1
A001 545 48 40 x 1

Plus you will need the following if you have the connector or not;

A008 545 55 26 x 4

The AUX in lead is A210 440 50 05

Cut the white connector off and solder as follows;

Yellow cable pin4 of C2
Brown cable pin5 of C2
Black cable pin13 of C2
Bare cable pin14 of C2

You will need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable. Drill an 18mm hole in the glove box to accept the female end of the AUX lead. Simple.

You will need these also;

Good luck.

Well,

Many thanks to you all for your help. MB supplied all the parts within 2 days and yesterday i fitted the AUX In along with a HK Drive + Play.

Very, very happy, I can now store my Ipod in the lower box of the arm rest while in use. The control 'knob' is in front of the front drivers side window switch and the display is in the same place on the passenger side.

It is very easy to use and the screen is clearly visable by glancing down.

Only one irritating problem, when the sound system is turned up reasonably high, during the silence between tracks etc. there is a whine from the alternator. I will try and get a better earthing point when i can be bothered to pull everything apart again!

Once again, many thanks all.

Just ordered all these parts myself, for delivery on Saturday.

A0005454230 : £2.05 +VAT
A0015454840 : £0.80 +VAT
A0085455526 : £0.71 +VAT x4 - I ordered 5 incase I dropped or broke one (likely)!
A2104405005 : £17.09 +VAT

Parts total 23.49 +VAT, £27.60 inclusive.
