Looks like you unfortunately bought a lemon. Very very rare to hear of any problems with the M113 engine. You along with donshl above have been very unlucky.
For what it's worth, I have put in 0.5lt top up on one occasion in 2.5 years ownership. Its now on 107k

Well a rebuild is out of the question. Just gonna have to trade it in or somet. I quite like the CLk55's.

^ I hope whoever acquires your C55 knows about the oil consumption:rolleyes:.
A dealer won't fix it as he'll be unaware.

Surely your car must smoke like crazy using a litre every 500 miles:eek:

I'm surprised you aren't spending the £2/3k to rebuild. It's not like its a heap, its a £7 -£8k great car when in good condition.

Have you taken the heads off to check? If it's just a top end rebuild, then it wouldn't be that bad, probably under a grand.

If not at least get a compression and leak down test done.

I went for a full rebuild, replacing most of the wear items ( excl Pistons, valves and crank)

For me it was a case of weighing up what I put into the car and the cost of rebuild and finding something to replace it. I couldn't find anything for that price point to replace with all the features and performance.

I would be very serious about doing it if it was a grand, but olly at PCS told me its would be more 2-3k, im not spending that, rather cut my losses.

AMGeed, please don't assume im not going to let a buyer know the problem. Im no scammer. And 7-8k in good condition. You cheeky sod lol.

I do love the car, and ive sunk about 1500quid into it since ive had it.

Maybe ill get a compression/leak test done. How much is that usually?

Funnily enough it doesn't smoke too bad at all. it throws a bit out when its cold, but they all seem to. Once its warm, I don't notice anything.

Sorry Grovsie, that wasn't my intention.
As you stated you would p/x it, I assumed it would be the dealer keeping quiet, not yourself.
Anyone buying it would be beating down your door if they'd poured in a litre of oil in 500 miles without you saying anything:D

Are C55's really fetching much more than £8k in good condition?
I don't follow the price of those TBH so I wasn't trying to be disrespectful.

If it's just the heads:

Mine were around £350 refurbed iirc (Headline in MK)

Then it's the labour of removal and fitting so don't see much more than a grand.

It is assuming it's just the heads.

I don't know much about mechanical side of things on how to identify worn stem seals or if there's a problem with the cylinders unless the heads are taken off.

M112 3.2 V6, Not many reported problems with this sturdy, understressed motor.
