E300 estate
I was just wondering what sort of MPG people got out of ther E300TD's, I seem only to be getting early 20's around town and late 20's on a run.

I would have thought I should get a bit more.

The car has done 176k and it isn't smoky.

I look forwards to hearing from other owners.

I had one ten years ago. Got over 39mpg on a run. 20s- 30s in town.

Your car is a W210? Can I withdraw my earlier remarks. I have spread sheets from 2000 onwards. My E300TD averaged under 30mpg.:crazy:

I had a 1999 W210 E300TD estate. It was my company car from Jan 2001 till Mar 2002. As I also had a company fuel card, I have to admit that I was a bit heavy with the right foot.

I ran it from 40,000 to 80,000 miles, and consistently averaged 30mpg (or a bit less). This was mostly motorway or country roads, very seldom city driving. The car was a replacement for a w210 E200 estate, which was nearly as economical (26-28 mpg), but so much slower.

It was a lovely car, fast and reliable, but I never thought of it as economical. I guess if I had driven it with more restraint I could have got a few more mpg.

The advent of the cdi engines brought a huge improvement in economy.

Actually not much more. Although it can show (as it did for me yesterday ) 46mpg, in reality it averages at about 34mpg.

Mines not great on fuel as well but I new that before I bought one.
It doesn't bother me as I run it on recycled veg. oil :thumb: which I get for nowt! :p

Hi

Best i have got is 40 mpg ONCE on an overnight run from Calais to Stranraer at 56 mpg on cruise. I would have been quicker walking!!!!

Worst i have got is 25.

If i drive sensibly on an 80mile commute i can return 36 over a few fill ups by keeping below 2000 rpm when accelerating and on the move.

18" alloys cost me ~2 mpg and winter weather another 2 or so.

Round town expext below 30 but above 25.

The estate does seem to be worse than the saloon prob due to aerodynamics.

Changing the air filter regularly, using fully synthetic oil, tyre pressures at 36 and wheel alingment correct all help mileage on the run.

Hope this helps
