My Car Has Been Stolen

I hope you and your family are ok, and that everything unsettled finds its way back to level so you can all move on and put it behind you.

That's rotten. Hope they catch the barstewards. It's easy to say, but I'm sure it wasn't personal, and what's done is done; you can't change it, so put it behind you and get on with the rest of your life.

Sorry to read this John

Stay strong mate at the end of the day you can replace the car.
The most important thing is you and your family are safe

Sorry to hear about it. Cars are emotional possessions and your property. Your car was stolen to order, no doubt about that. It will be abroad by now.
Now for the bit where I sound like a troll: I knew that you had a gorgeous car.
So did anybody else browsing the site. Many of those I know with very fine watch collections don't mention the fact online. To everybody, think twice before posting too much detail. Not everybody is friendly round here.

Can I offer out thanks for everyone's kind thoughts and advice and to you guys who left messages on the phone - sorry I've not replied as it's been a bit of a mad day with glass and locks and the wife's car to sort out.

Just because forewarned is forearmed, here's what happened:

10.00pm .

Entry gained via the outer front door by smashing the glass with a brick (it's 3/4 glazed) , clearing it with an implement and stepping through, then entry attempted to the inner front door with a crowbar or the like.

Myself and the good lady were in the hallway as she'd heard the glass break too.

In one of those surreal slow motion moments I was shouldering the inner door trying to keep it shut while they crowed it open, as they shouted "keys, give us the f'in keys - give us the f'in keys.

The keys are on a unit close by, so I shouted to good lady to give them to me (I'm still up against the door) and then yanked open the door to be greeted by Mr Hoodie and his masked men.
I threw the key past him and through the smashed glass door and shouldered the inner door shut again.

Next time I opened the door (a few seconds later) a silver car at the bottom of my drive was heading off with my E63 behind it (sounded good too).

The wife's Focus had had it's side window smashed, handbrake released and it had rolled down our sloping drive, across the road and was wedged on some low level railings the council had put there to stop travellers getting onto the land opposite, but blocking the carriageway. That gave them the ability to get my car off the drive.

I can't tell you if there were more than three, but the point is, as borne out by my neighbour who had four people round the back of his house, that these guys are using numbers and tools to get what they want - what the f*ck are you supposed to do?

The reason for posting this is to make you aware that there are those who will attempt to get your keys during the evening while you're in and awake - it's not all stealth whilst you're asleep it would seem.

My view - give 'em the keys - it ain't worth risking the family

Be vigilant peeps.

Commiserations John. Don't know what else to say apart from what has already been said by others.

Can't believe this, just glad you are ok and the feckers just ****ed off once they had got what they wanted :(

John, I am so sorry to hear of this.

The strange thing about this forum is that even though I'm still a relatively new kid on the block, I feel like I know many of you regular contributors, even without having ever met any of you. There's a huge number of really decent people on here and to hear of something like this happening to one of you is upsetting. Best wishes...

Quite horrific to read John and what a harrowing ordeal. Glad you and your wife are safe, take good care over the next few days as the reality of what's happened fully kicks in.

Jules

Thank you for the update, John - hope all goes as best it can from here forwards.
Also hope the thieving scum get their just desserts.

Shocked...........
Feel for you & your family, what a nasty experience.

Thanks for update John. Sounds to me like you did very well there and minimised any potential risk for further issues. Very sensible & good clear sound thinking under pressure.

It is good to know how it can happen, when & how best to deal with it. Just in case the worst should happen & it happen to anyone else on here.

Just out of interest...what town/city do you live in?

John

So pleased that both you and your good lady are safe and well.

The car will be replaced in time and the repair to her car done.

You are a property developer. Build a ******' garage and get them out of sight !!!

Sorry to hear this John, wishing you and your family all the best. Hopefully these scum will be caught fast.

Can't really add anything further except I add my weight to the sentiment already carried by this thread.

You definitely did the right thing - I'm glad you guys are OK.

Yes, you could put up a fight but it's not worth it for that cause.

Probably a group of drugged up ****ers so who knows what they might do in the heat of the moment.

I hope they are caught and jailed.

What an absolute nightmare for you and your wife to go through John :(

Good, quick thinking buddy even in the heat of the moment. I would have smashed half the house over the nearest tw@t but then I'd probably not be living to tell the tale and they know where to come back to if you did manage to injure any of them so Superhero thoughts are best left as just that, thoughts!

Hope they catch the fcukers

Glad you're all safe :thumb:

In s bizarre twist - the house has a 5m x 5m garage, but the car is also just shy of 5m, so I can't get it in and shut the door.

The garage extension is approved and starts this time next week .

Sod's law at it's best

F*** me. 10.00pm. That's mental. Thanks for letting us know the MO. New to me.

Although, thinking about it, there was a spate of smash-the-front-door-in burglaries in my last street before I moved in. There's probably a small number of the f&ckers doing this round your way and they'll get nicked.

No consolation though.

All the best sorting everything out.
