My new Toy CLS 55 AMG

Looking very nice indeed. May I ask, did you get charged import duties?

Yes I got stung with import duties and a handling charge from the UK Courier which tainted the purchase somewhat.

Lovely car Andy...I saw it at Olly's bash and just read through this thread, you have done a great job on it...:thumb:

I do miss my C43/55 202, and though I think the CLS is better in just so many ways to it, I just can,t seem to bond with it as I did the 202. Might be a time thing as I had owned the 202 for 7-8 years, and covered 60k miles in it, but I don,t think I will be keeping the CLS that long, but you never know.

I also haven't bonded aswell as I thought, I put it down to the lack of mods available to do. As you know all my previous cars I have changed a fair bit. With my AMG not needing much fitting.

Since fitting the paddles & DRLs however got some of that old magic back :)

My old one may be for sale... you want the blokes number?;)

Andy , I agree, even after 5 years I had a closer bond with my 202 :(

Its not just me then, surprisingly I have lost a lot of interest in cars generally after the demise of my C43/55. Though I think Karl is right in the aspect that there are not as many OEM Mods that can be done. Though I am still managing to find some, IPOD Kit, Paddles, and I,m in the process of collecting parts for my latest one.........Distronic, just need the sensor behind the grill and a different Grill/Grill Star(though the Grill is easy to get its the sensor behind the Grill I cannot get).

the best way to bond with your car is to drive it ..

take it on long trips to deserted roads

then you will see the difference and hopefully the light!

I still have a G-Wagen itch, I would love to take a mid 90s one and make it look like a 2010 (tastefully, with OEM mods only).

I know a G will be slow, thirsty and unpleasent to drive long distances, but the mod factor is very appealling.

I got into cars because I like tinkering with them, trouble with the CLS is as I said above - theres virtually nothing I can tinker with on it.

However, I will never get bored of the hyperspace button at full wack (the pedal) :D

you can paint my rear diffuser black plastic strip bit in black if you like :)

The CLS is far more capable than just "hyperspace" .. it also does sweeping corners and high speed work handling incredibly well.

Sean wants his rear black bit examined and re coated Karl.

Re-wrapped mine in '4G ' Carbon Fibre which is gloss and looks great.

Will post pics soon

Hi,
Well the postal fairies came last week with a few goodies for the beast,

For those that are familiar with the items pictured above,
PLM Uprated Heat Exchanger.
3 Piece ASP Aluminium Pulley set.
UPD Belt wrap kit.
Had intended to fit the pulleys and belt wrap kit yesterday, as I have watched a couple of u tube videos of the installation and thought it would only take an hour or so, but I hadn't anticipated the lack of room in the CLS as compared to the car the utube video was referring too, a CL55.
So will wait and do it the weekend, though I did slip the charger belt off span up the idler, tensioner and supercharger pulleys and judging by the noise of the tensioner none to soon either, my supercharger pulley is not as quite as expected but I think that is more like the clutch in it rather than a worn bearing.
Anyone fitted an uprated heat exchanger and has any pointers please feel free to post.

wow really loving the OEM+ look of this car, some lovely worlk from when you first got it to now

If you ever feel the need to change any of it I would love your AMG front bumper :)

love the new wheels and The Wheel Specialist in Fareham always do AMAZING work, I have used them a few times on some of my cars over the years,

will be watching this thread and seeing what else you are up to

I believe putting amg kit on cls's is slightly more difficult than bolt on bolt off. I believe all the carriers are different and it becomes costly.

shame, i thought a front bumper swap and maybe sideskirt swap would be a simple case of a few bolts,

the rear bumper on the CLS has lower mounts which are just star keys from what I have seen when under it

It is simple...just involves a lot of bolts and a lot of parts!

And alot of £££
