My2013 c coupe sports plus modifications

cheers i forgot i had posted two links! i used the ebay one in the end - but i may take a look at one of these as i like the chrome finish

Rather than scrolling through all the history, I wondered if you could tell me how you sorted out securing the single bar CKS grill?

I also fitted the chrome iDrive cover but it sits a little high and doesn't click down over the existing one. Again: anyone got any thoughts, or is that just how it is?

hi magoo long time hope all is well - i opted to let the dealer fit it - which they did for free - as was so quick they didnt charge the labour - so im unsure but mine hasn't be loose in any shape or form or had any problems - i think kid dav did his by hand if that helps but not been on here for a while

also for the i drive - i had the matt finish idrive not the chrome one (see pics in my album) this sat very flush but i do prefer the finish of the chrome one you have and will be getting one ordered soom so so if you manage so solve any improved fitment let me know!

coupe looks nice by the way!!!!!

I ordered 2 of the i-drive covers from the last link posted (ali express) the first fitted perfectly although on closer inspection there was an imperfection in the finish, the second was a little tight in fitment and wouldn't slide right over...

I managed to solve this by taking a dremel tool with a small grinding wheel to the inside of the cover. It took be about 10 minutes to get it sorted out with a few trips back to the car to try it.

Hope that helps.

Dynamic handling package

Ok so had my first decent drive of the car this afternoon, as I took the long way home from work. Here are my initial thoughts on the handling.

Sports exhaust: has a sporty but restrained note. Noticeably more sporty than standard but not 'in-your-face' loud if that makes sense.

Gearbox: Eco mode is as per the AMG Sport I test drove. That is to say it is quite docile, but smooth, taking off in 2nd unless you max out the accelerator pedal, and short-shifting to save fuel. Sport Mode is a marked difference. The car feels much more eager to move away when you release the brakes and the shifts are delayed upon hard acceleration. Downshifts generally smooth. Manual mode I tried for the first time tonight on a twisty B road. During spirited driving the up shifts are almost instant, although ever so slightly slower (and understandably so) in comparison to some double-clutch systems I have previously experienced. The downshifts are entertaining with the car actively blipping the throttle as you change down, adding to the sporty feel and giving a nice aural experience. The downshifts generally happen as requested, though don't expect the box to change down if you are endangering the box and engine by requesting a change which will cause the engine to over-rev.

I should qualify my opinion by saying that this is the first auto I have owned. I have completed various advanced driving qualifications at work and was worried that I'd miss the involved feel of a manual and the satisfaction of nicely executed sustained rev changes etc. I shouldn't have worried as I still found the auto engaging in manual mode, and the active downshifts put a smile on my face.

Handling: in general I have been very impressed. The suspension is firm but the car absorbs bumps in the road with class and ease. My previous car was a 330i m-sport which crashed over the bumps by comparison. I much prefer this car. It maybe doesn't have the dynamic handling some associate with BMW but I am more than satisfied with the car and can't fault it in this respect.

Hope this helps.

Hi Maverick,

I have just taken delivery of a high-spec 9 month old Obsidian/Sahara 250 AMG Sport Coupe which has the Dynamic Handling Package optional extra; (this car has replaced my silver C250 CDI AMG Sport Coupe that has sadly been very problematic over last 12 months (including wet carpets ) and that MB Retail bought back

Apart from being delighted to be back in a (dry) petrol car, I am equally happy to have experienced the downshift throttle blip on the increasing occassions I am driving a bit harder in the new car! I was not aware of this feature so it's a bonus as I am mindful how autos can be heavy on the brakes, certainly with the way I drive.

I am assuming the DHP extra on my car is the same as the AMG Suspension package on the Sport Plus; presumably there is a science to this feature so do you know under what conditions does the downshift 'blip' engages?

Hi sorry I have been away for a while. As far as I understand it, the active downshift occurs in sport mode if your car has the handling pack.

The aim of the system will be to match the engine speed (revs) with the anticipated road speed of the requested gear by active use of the throttle in order to execute a smooth change during 'spirited' driving. Therefore the active downshift is more pronounced if you ask the box to change down from high revs, less so at low revs. It's the same principal behind a sustained rev gear change in a manual car.

Hope this helps.

Thinking of doing a small amount of vinyl wrap (more than likely through rob from valet magic) on my car when it arrives and wanted peoples opinions. Planning to wrap the middle section of the front lip of the bumper in gloss metallic black along with the roof and rear spoiler and possibly the window trim.

It will already have black mirrors, grille (due to the AMG handling pack, the car itself is tenorite grey) and the black amg alloys so thought it would compliment it well.

Thoughts? I think i've pretty much convinced myself but not 100% yet.

Sounds awesome! I have same car in same colour but standard wheels and am now busy visualising what it would look like. Love to see some pics when/if you get it done

The front lip, roof and spoiler are almost definites but I think that if I do go ahead I'd leave the chrome window trim as there are chrome accents on the front grille and drl, rear boot and on the rims.

Will definitely update with pics if/when I do decide to go ahead! Need to get the car first :p

Interesting how much would you charge for the front lip, roof and spoiler in gloss metallic black (not a fan of carbon on non Amg cars)

Just as an update I've been quoted £320 inc Vat by Totally Dynamic North London (Any good? as I can't find many reviews) for the Roof, Spoiler and front lip. I think that's for normal gloss black rather than 3M metallic black which will undoubtedly push the cost up to ~£400-420 probably.

Anyway Teamgreen do you think the black would be noticeable against the tenorite grey colour as it's quite dark and I'm just trying to weigh up whether I'm wasting money on a mod that is barely noticeable.

Hey SS-89, I just took these pics quickly tonight to see if it helps you.

But I can say that the difference between black grill or black wing mirror and paint work is not very noticeable, its more like a subtle difference. Saying that, it was what I wanted - I fully get those that like the white car/black wheel etc combo but it just isn't for me. Each to their own ...

Agreed hence me going for a near identical car to yours + black wheels :) Like you said it's subtle but to get a better comparison I did a crude photoshop to one of your pics from the w204 thread. Before and after attached. I like it...but I think I'll wait until I see my car in the flesh before making any final decisons.

edit: ignore my rubbish photoshop I found a pic from the american forums of a guy who painted his gloss black on a steel grey (tenorite) coupe

I actually quite like that ... Both photoshopped and other one

Agreed, I've now been quoted £374 for metallic black for the lot or £181 for just the spoiler and front lip.

I think I'm set on the front lip and spoiler at that price but the roof...I'm not sure.

On top of that I still haven't got my car :p the wait is agonising! Supposedly coming into the dealership this coming Wednesday.

I have however ordered a few other mods thanks to this thread:

Black bonnet emblem and Gloss Black MB Star alloy caps.

Hi guys

Just a quick question - I'm looking to change the standard front grille on my w204 c250 amg sport plus. I'm looking to fit my car with the c63 front grille but when I spoke to MB they're price was £265 which is nearly twice as much as the price of the same looking product at CKS (£135).

My question is should I buy the front grille from MB or save over £100 and go to CKS??

Regards

Bilal

New member here - I have just ordered the AMG grill for the coupe - any updates on how easy to remove the original and fit the new one?

Cheers!
