Car
the only car is a Merc
was a NAUGHTY BOY today, went to see a Mondeo ST24 Estate, very nice, was very tempted but have since been told to stay away from the Ford V6 it is nothing but trouble, never mind will carry on looking. Stick with MERC perhaps.

Why? :)

Other than being cheap it has few redeeming features. A C230k or C280 estate would be a better choice imho :)

I love the one iv'e got but i would just like a little more power and an Auto, and something inside of me is telling me i need a change, not sure if thats a good or bad thing

We all have moments of weakness.... But they're rarely that inexplicable ;)

You would be swapping a quality car with pedigree and class for a souped-up repmobile. Look for a bigger engined W124 estate if you must change! :)

Simple - Front Wheel Drive = don't bother (coming from ex-FWD V6 owner).

A tiny tear wells in the corner of my eye when someone talks about trading a W124 in for a mondeo. :(

My old boss (who should have been a member here, 'cos his spelling wasn't too hot) thought it stood for "F***ing Orful Rep's Dustbin"

Where's the Triumph gone?

Rob, Rob, Rob ........

Why ?

For what the Mundane-o would cost , you could get a lovely w124 e320 or 300te-24

Please give it no more thought.......

Rob, if you've been driving a 2-litre manual for a while, then I think a 320 auto will be sufficiently different to make it seem like a new choice of car altogether. Especially if you go for a new colour, and leather interior.....

she got rid of it

shame really but one particularly hot day in August we came home and found it sitting in a pool of irt's own fluids - a mix of engine oil and ATF.

The car hadn't been driven that day but all the gaskets on the sump suddenly started leaking we replaced the sump gaskets but couldn't stop the leaks. It had never leaked before and within a couple of hours there was about 3 litres of oil on the ground

With less than a week left until she needed the car for work everyday the decision was made that it had to go - hence the rather dull and lifeless Mondeo.
