The car was not delivered in good working order. Moreover, assist and dealership cant agree whether my car was clocked.

Whatever happened to Mercedes? My father used to drive them growing up and today he told me this sort of thing would never have happened 10-15 years ago.

I can forgive the rest. But the odometer reading was the last straw.

Mistakes happen. But a 60k jump on the clock. Be it a typing error by a service guy is not.

Especially when the car was sold to myself only lastweek.

Amateurs..:(

Car is going to be sold if the mileage is legal.

It is fully specced out and stunning to look at. But i dont need to be pulling my hair out over a car. Moreso, when my A4 has not given me any trouble over the last 10 years.

My car put on 32,000 miles in a month when it broke down 1 month after I bought it. It was all swiftly sorted though.

Hi dave i bought the car with 37k miles on the clock.

Assist and Merc are telling me that it should be reading 90k+ acording to their records.

Merc however think the 60k jump over four months is not humanly possible and think its a typo error.

Assist are coming to check it out as we speak. If i have been sold a clocked car by an authorised merc dealership there will be hell to pay..

Just get your money refunded and buy another one.

Otherwise you will always be thinking about this issue and it may come back to haunt you at sale time.

I have read all of your post and none of them make good reading. I share dieselmans sentiments on this of what should have been a good happy time is turning very sour.

The 211 car you bought takes some beating in both build and driving, try not to be too disillusioned by whats happened, there are other dealers and good ones that care.

If I were you I would back it

My old man bought a E300 diesel that had been clocked previously (speedo disconnected for 1 year) from a MB dealership.

Lots of arguements about responsibility, so in the end px'ed it with another dealer and let them argue amongst themselves.

Hope you get it sorted asap.

as i said in your other thread, the mileage jump in history is more common than you would think due to human error at post offices or by garages entering incorrect mileages into databases...

you need to look at exactly what makes them think it should be 90K..

60,000 over 4 months is quite high. Would mean that someone had done 500 miles a day, every day which is possible I suppose, at least in theory. In my case I knew where the jump happened and have had a go at the relevant dealer, after first being questioned by Service Plus, and then by the said dealer after we discussed wheels.

I am sure that it will be an oversight, hopefully in your favour, otherwise I am sure the dealer will be keen to sort it out before trading standards get involved!

I have found the ignore feature very useful.;)

Isn't there an option to return the car within 30 days on approved used cars. Just explain the issue, and firmly but politely ask then to take it back.

It wasn't advertised as being a 90k car, you didn't pay the price of a 90k car, and the deal was not done on the basis that it was a 90k car. Therefore, I see they have little alternative but to take it back unless they can clearly and beyond doubt prove it was an administrative error.

Update:

The service manual is a duplicate. Assist guy said its not worth the paper its printed on.

Service assist guy came out. Engine light went away.

Drove 5 miles. Engine light came on again. Noticable loss of power.

Monday will be an eventful day i think..

It takes a long time to find the right car, (well it did for me) this does not seem the ONE for you!
As already said, i would take it back for a full refund if it is possible.

GOOD LUCK, hope you do not need it.

It hurts badly to find the car of dreams is not all you thought it to be - it hurts even more to find that the dealer is incapable of sorting out your problems.
I had 2 problem free MB's then the third - I don't want to go there again!
My issue was that the salesman told me to expect a perfect car. When things went pear-shaped the dealership manager said that I was expecting too much from a 5 year old car! (it had just cost me £19,000).
To the credit of this dealer they offered to take the car back & gave a full refund.
However, who amongst us needs this hassle in life. I went & bought an Audi - no hassle with the purchase or since (in just over 3 years).
I hope to return to MB next year with an SLK for the wife, but I will be extreemly cautious with the purchase process.

If you are not happy - push for a full & immediate refund & move on. If you need assistance contact MB UK - they helped me.

Name & shame the dealer if you are not happy with the outcome
Keep us posted.

If that was a taxi then theres a very rich taxi driver somewhere! Even at £1 a mile thats about £15 grand a month - could be shared i suppose.

.

Why is this an MB problem? If you bought the car from an MB dealer I can see you have an issue with MB, but if you bought the car from an independant then the problem is with the dealer not MB.

I feel for you in this position, but as everyone else has stated under your rights reject the car.
