Mercedes C Class 250CDI AMG Sport Plus Auto
Hi all

I'm getting my new C250CDI AMG Sport Plus Auto delivered
on Friday courtesy of Vehiclesavers.com. However
all previous lease cars have either been delivered on a transporter
or picked up by me.

I've been told I can't have either of these options
and it will be delivered to my house by a delivery driver.

Not sure i like the sound of someone ragging my new car for a
130 miles from the PDP centre!

Has anyone got any experience of this? I presume the drivers
are fairly sensible but half of the thrill of getting a new car is seeing
it all new and shiny. I wonder if they wash it near to your house etc?

Cheers
Baz

My C63 was delivered by a driver.

He drove it 250 miles from Exeter to Nottingham and was quick to point out a few things:

1. Trip computer mileage covered
2. Average speed
3. mpg for journey

The above was enough for me to know that the car hadn't been driven badly. In fact it's never seen the 24mpg that he got since!

They can take it for a wash and my guy offered to, but I preferred to do it myself. I would ask them not too as you don't know where they will take it.

Overall it's of no interest to the lease company to have some young lad drive the car and potentially prang it or cause issue.

Fingers crossed mine is as respectful!

Worth also remembering that these drivers do this often, many times with more expensive and luxurious motors, so the "novelty" factor has worn off long ago. They will treat it carefully and with respect I am sure

It would seem round here (Chester) I would be more concerned with who goes to fill it up or has just nipped to the shops in it...

I regualry see the 'sales guys' leave the Mercedes garage here and give it full beens, car still smoking (cold). Simply to drive it half a mile fill up and boot it back. More damaged done their than stuggling to keep at 70 on the motorway :)

Have to say I would want to collect it myself.

Athough and I don't know if this is true now.... we bought 2 VW golfs (MK3's) so a while back, and as long as you reset the trip before 70 miles it would not register the first 3 lots of distance upto that amount.

:)

Enjoy your car

Same experience as moff - Exeter to Derby - same explanation of trip, speed and mpg - it was raining when delivered so I signed for it stating this and that not fully inspected by me.

Driver then asked me how to get to train station - I assume this is how he got back ( maybe he was angling for a lift , but he didn't push it and I didn't offer, I wanted the first drive to be on my own!)

How do those delivery drivers get back?
Are they accompanied by another car?
Most rely on public transport. Used to be common to see them hitch hiking.

I think it is polite to offer them a lift to the nearest station.

Friend used to drive for NKL who did this sort of thing all over the country. He'd have some mental days.

He only ever blew up one engine (really was an engine fault though)

There was quite a bit of time and money invested in driver training.

I'd always offer them a lift to the station knowing what I do....

Our new Volvo was delivered about 80 miles by the dealer which I saw a real bonus. The chap was obviously not going to rag it, (it's a Volvo anyway) and it arrived with 80 miles of dirt on it. He was driven back by another chap in another car who had accompanied him.

Nope they won't let me

Seems to be a recent trend, probably cutting costs. My previous cars were delivered on transporter, with the vehicle being replaced taken away.

This time the car was delivered by a driver, who went over the old one with a fine tooth comb, and he took the old one away. He had a cleaning kit with him but, as it was raining heavily, I didn't bother.

Agreed. My existing car is a company car so not the same lease company - thats being taken away next Wednesday.

I just hope he doesnt rag it - It knackers the long term fuel consumption else.

Looking forward to it now - cant wait!

My MB is a company car. My old car was on a personal lease. Different leasing companies involved. One transporter arrived at 9am to take the old car. Hey presto 30 mins later the MB arrived on a transporter, to be very very gingerly taken off and parked neatly by the transporter guy. Guess I was very lucky!

? I don't understand the more damage done comment

Don't worry about it. Enjoy the car.

For info: I had the option to have the car delivered on a transporter, but for an additional cost of £1/mile. The dealer was 200 miles away, plus the 200 miles of driving were 200 miles less I would have to do, before being able to give the car some beans. Win-win :)

I gave the driver a lift to the local station - time enough for him to show me all the button, chat about cars and laugh about motoring forums.
