CLK 320 Advantgarde Convertible
Hi,

With the 'B' service upon me for for CLK I have a few bits that need sorting out. Hopefully nothing major. Here we go:

1. Exhaust rattles when moving off, low level of acceleration
2. Passenger seat vibrating, can see it moving
3. Windows judder when going down
4. Steering wheel vibrates when driving above 60 mph
5. Steering wheel offset when driving in a straight line
6. Vibration on the accelerator pedal when above 60 mph
7. Car moves forward very slightly when gear is placed into 'P' position after driving
8. Noisy brakes, especially in the morning and when returning home from work
9. Passenger door bottom right speaker blown

Would appreciate if anyone can help with advising me what may be the cause's and fix's of the above.

Garages can give alot of bu**sh*t

TIA

Satty

1) Could be the Cat on way out
2) may need tightening down
3) Common, may need the rails aligning again and lubing
4) Wheel Balancing
5) Tracking, if not too much then wouldnt worry
6) Probably Wheel Balancing just coming through
7) Normal - use the handbrake!
8) May need new pads or discs or both
9) New Speaker.

Vibration issue could be related to the wheels needing to be balanced.

However, the seat should not vibrate from this at all and I think I may possibly know the cause. It is possible that the beading on one of your wheels (most likely the passenger side) has been broken at some point and there could be water/liquid inside the tyre and when your driving at 60MPH this is causing the problem. Alterntaively, one of the wheels could be buckled. You need to go to a competent tyre expert who can remove the wheels from the tyres and check things out for you without damaging your alloys in the process!!!

Alternatively, if could be a suspension related issue. A good test would be to fit a set of wheels straight of another car of smilar spec and see if the vibration issue is then resolved BUT getting hold of another set of tyres/wheels will not be easy unless the Stealership helpout in giving a donar vehilce...

the previous owner had 4 new tyres and alignment done by kwik fit may 05.....must have had some apprentice doing the work....

whilst getting a service quote over the phone from mercs only, he said it could be the bushes that are causing the steering wheel alignment????
