Hi folks

I’ve now heard from everyone regarding attending the meeting and their meal choice. Thanks for letting me know. I will be passing the information onto the Lion Inn. Next week I hope to visit Eden Camp to check out the parking arrangements and I will do the drive up to the Lion Inn (any excuse to do that) to finalise the route and timings.

Fingers crossed we get decent weather , latest forecast is for high pressure developing for an extended period after some changeable weather this weekend.

Hi Folks

The 14 April is rapidly approaching .

I visited Eden Camp yesterday to look at car parking arrangements. We will have an area in Park C which will be sharing with Tameside Classic Car Club who are visiting on the same day. The plan is we will park on one side , the other club will be opposite to us.

Eden Camp opens at 10am, you may be able to enter a slightly earlier but I’ve been asked if you can aim for 10am. When you arrive at the gate house please say you are with the “Mercedes Car Club Meeting” , give your name and number on the list below which I will be providing to the staff, you will then get access at the reduced club rate.

Having had a quick tour yesterday Eden Camp is quite compact but there is lots to look at in the various old POW huts. There is a Cafe in the middle of the Camp and plenty of toilet facilities not far from where we will be parked.


At the Lion Inn our group is booked in for 3pm. I’ve checked the route which is around 45 miles and we should be able to make it comfortably in 1 hour 15 minutes. The route is pretty straight forward , mainly left turns and I’m sure we won’t lose anyone. For those of you whose cars have an addiction to V Power I’d suggest making sure you fill up before arriving at Eden Camp as once we head North we won’t be passing any Shell stations.



For those not familiar with the area who want to get back to Eden Camp I will be returning via Hutton Le Hole , Pickering back to the A64 next to the starting point.

Dave Glad you can make it in whatever Merc you choose

If anyone else has to leave things late to join us there is no problem with increasing the numbers at Eden Camp provided I know at least a couple of days before. Unfortunately the Lion Inn can’t take anymore on the group booking for lunch , but you could always order separately at the bar as they serve food all day.

At the Lion Inn, must say it was pretty cold up there as it’s apraoaching 1000 feet above sea level so I’d recommend bringing a coat It’s always warm inside the pub though
