Help - please !

my surfing is hindered by very messages from my Norton security system saying

YOUR PC is attempting to send private information over the internet

Norton categorises is as a High risk alert. and it put the alert as being in the category of Bank account.

(rest assured there are no bank type info on my PC not even internet banking)

it happens on a variety of sites John Lewis Stores and just now when browsing Halfords for a coolbox (thanks for the suggestion PAMMY - am looking at a 12 Volt one that been reduced from 100+ down to 47 quid, should be good for the up & comming frsnce/Spain road trip )

How worried should I be about this and how best to stop it happening ? I cant be the only person this affects !

If I block it the subsequent pages won't load up

it even says my PC is attempting to send info to this site!
thanks

Steve

PS any body have experience of the Santander/Plymouth ferry ?

Sounds like typical Norton scare-mongery!

The only thing you are ever likely to *send* to a respectable website is a request from your browser for a webpage, and the way it's formatted it contains no personal data of any kind, except things like browser version etc.

Thanks Shude

I think you may well be right as after a few rounds of click to permit/block it often the case that the page is then unavailable.

It rarely if seems to happen on the "opening" page of a site but to sub pages as it were ie the coolbox pages on the Halfords site or typically a cars' detail page on a dealer's site

I also get "run time" errors from some sites and the pop up offer to use the de bug facility never can resolve it.

will e mail Norton in the morning to see if there's a option to customise so I can browse in peace

Steve
