In rest of Europe i.e. France/Italy/Spain they can confiscate your vehicle - especially after an accident if you are at fault as well as on the spot fines. Bit more risky in rest of Europe if caught speeding.

Under a new agreement, if you are caught speeding in France; the french coppers will pass your details onto the DVLA (or relevant body in the UK) who will be kind enough to award you with any points you are eligible too.

Unfortunately, this frequent driver point scheme is not yet available in the rest of Europe

The new arrangement is that fines accumulated abroad are now recognised under our law as a lawful debt, and so if you don't pay your fine in France, they can now chase you up when you get home.

The points bit is just a lie to get you excited.
