Personal number plates

I've never had a private plate, but saw a superb plate on a silver W210 which was: TEN510N. It looked superb and no real jiggery pokery to spell the word tension. I decided to look for the plate on line and it was for sale :bannana: The problem was the asking price..£25,000! Still a lovely plate though.

Mrs Ringway's dad likes the idea of a private plate, but when I search the on-line sites on his behalf, I get the feeling that when I input THE plate I am looking for that the price may change because I have been so specific or something else may be logged about the plate or us in some way, yeah I know.. (you never know what data some sites collect - Our website stats tell us who types in what on entry and exit, what country they came from, their browser, IP address etc..)

So now I input his 3, letters and then "stumble upon" the combination we really want.

The one I bid on was pretty close; it had the first three letters of my surname and ended with "50N".

As near perfect as you could get.

Buy mine Gina.... As your my sister you can have it at a discounted price.... 58 DXC is my reg, dateless....but to me means nothing, was on the car when i bought it. Personally i think it looks quite good on the car as it hides the year but had it valued by northern numbers and elite reg for £1300 and £1500 respectively..... but i doubt it would ever reach that price... like you say its only worth what someone is willing to pay....so anyone wnat to buy it lol :bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana::bannana:

Same with us ..

We could have had a plate that spells our surname exactly , and somehow dad forgot to do the bidding ...

My surname is Miatt , the numberplate was M1 ATT ...

Either of you actually seen the numberplate on a car since missing them?

I've seen the TEN5ION plate several times.

I have seen G1 NAE respaced to read G1NA E in Cardiff this weekend on an X5...Looked good

DE51 RED is a pretty kewl plate. I'm not into private plates, but I'd have that one if the opportunity arose.

I went to a few auctions and remember one in Harrogate in about 1997 where I almost missed one that was close to the spelling of my first name. Had earmarked going up to about £2500 think the guide price was about £1800, it went for just over £3k in the end.

Anyway, two weeks ago I saw the plate on a new shape white BMW X5 on Marylebone Road near Regents Park!

private reg

My wife bought me my reg number from DVLA in 2000, it cost £400 including transfer, it is W60 UPE and my name is W Coupe I couldnt have got better I think.

What a cool surname :)

I have found a way around the personal number plate problem.

I am changing my name to T662JWP (the reg of one of my vehicles).

How cool is that..

And free!

T662JWP
(I used to be Paul).

I hope you don't read back issues of Viz?

It was in Viz about 15 years ago. Letterbox.

I am just thumbing thru the odd copy to see if I can locate it.

Of course, if you don't read any back copies, you will be able to claim your idea as orginal.
