Barely two months after replacing two wheels because I hit a kerb which also involved having the OSF track rod end and ball joint replaced and steering geometry realigned I get it back from the MOT today with an Advisory Notice from the testing centre that there is play in both NSF and OSF ball joints and the NSF track rod end.

The play is so bad the the NSF tyre is scrubbing on the inside. Am I right in thinking this should have been dealt with when the geometry was realigned? Should I be calmly pointing this out to the dealer concerned?

Yes. There is no point re-aliging a car with worn ball joints. Common issue on the 215 and 220

Thanks Olly. What makes it so damning is that they only replaced the NSF ball joint, charging me £230, despite advising me that they should be replaced in pairs.

Update: Just got it back from the dealer. They said they found the nearside front wheel needed camber adjustment for which they didn't charge me. They did try to say I must have hit a pothole but I know I didn't, suggesting their steering alignment was perfunctory at best.

They also said it was the suspension ball joints, as advised on the MOT certificate, that had slight play whereas they had fixed the lower ball joints. Are these different or am I being fed a line?
