I have a new SLK 2008 model and the info screen in between the clocks says bluetooth ready.

I have tried to pair two phones but the car gives an error message that there are no new devices found.

Am I daft and require more hardware or is the car like the BMW's where the bluetooth facility is ready for pairing with any bluetooth phone?

Thanks,

Al

may be a stupid question but is the car bluetooth in pairing mode to allow your phone to find it?????

Since he says the car gives this error message, I assume he tries to pair BT devices from the car, not from the phone.

I'm afraid the SLK has not been upgraded to the W204 functionality but works like the W221 where you would have to have a BT headset (ready for pairing) to make the car find a BT device. The point being the car supports BT HF (or HS) but not the other way around.

Do you have the UHI kit?

More info

Should have been more specific, sorry.

I have the following:-

Audio 20 Radio

I enter the Bluetooth menu on the screen in the dash and select the device scanning function. It searches but finds nothing, only Conventional phone. I have tried both phones one at a time searching for devices whilst the car does the same thing but no joy :-(

WM 6.0 phone (TyTn)
Nokia 6021

I am not Au Fait with the tech terms you have asked me about (UHI)?

My car was a stock order so no optional extras apart from Parktronic, and Heated seats.

Is this headset a hack to make the car accept the phone initially?

Grateful for any help.

Al

I tried to figure out what a 2008 SLK can do from the on-line user manual. It is basically only stating "The Bluetooth connection between your mobile phone and the audio system* or COMAND APS* is not activated.". It then suggests to look at the separate head unit user guide.

Would anyone know if this model after all would have the same BT capability as a W204? In this case the car should be ready for BT HF if you can just figure out how to pair the phone properly.

Head unit info

Here is a few excerpts from the audio 20 manual

Your phone should support the hands free profile 1.0 or higher. Not sure but I assum both do support it as I used them both in my last car a 320 BMW 2007 year.

Usual info on pairing, pass code etc.

Set the mob phone to search for bluetooth devices.

Press the Tel button on the audio 20

Select Telephone - Bluetooth - Update.... Audio 20 searches for suitable BT devices in range and displays them on the screen

Authorise

Select Authorise from list

The it tells you the usual stuff regarding passkey etc.

My problem is the Audio 20 does not detect either phone. The Multifunction display between speedo and rev counter shows Bluetooth ready si I assume the car is configured to support BT.

Working feverishly here as I'm off to Switzerland tomorrow on holiday :D

Great, the car obviously has BT HF support.

Are you sure you had BT discoverable from your phone? On my Nokia there is a setting "My Phone's Visibility" and I set it to "Shown to all".

Half way there

Well the system connected and paired successfully with my 6021 but sod's law dictates that I want to use my TY Tn as it has tom tom and all my other stuff on it.

It's obviously now an issue with my WM 6 phone

Must consult the XDA developers website as it's a mine of info.

At least you guys now know that HF works on the 2008 SLK 200 and wonderfully well too as the audio was perfect.

Will update you if I glean any more info.
