I have been thinking recently about this Forum and what people contribute. There are some really good contributors here who get to meet up at GTG's. With one exemtion. John In Torquay. Because of his restrictions on movement he is unable to come to our gatherings. So peeps, he cant come to us, so lets go to him.

Anyone any further thoughts on this. I will travel down from Preston so distance should not be a problem, should it? :D

Comments please

I presume you have asked John in advance of this, so in theory, yes.

As good an excuse as any to head south on a sunny day!

Yes Graham I have spoken with John who claims to be speech less at the idea and would welcome it.

I don't believe it. Could be a first I guess.

lol - I'm sure John will see the very funny side of that.

But interestingly Ian - I was thinking along the very same lines a few days ago. Fitting it in might be a toughie for me n mine - but lets see if we can get this boat to float :D It's a very nice idea.

Ian, John doesn't do speechless ;-)

Seriously though, it's a beautiful part of the country, I might even try and make it down if the timing and stuff is right! There's an open air theatre out there somewhere on top of a cliff, with a sandy beach at the bottom - I can't remember what it's called but I'd dearly love to find it again and show that view to my son...

:D :D End of speechless!! :D Both the 'better half' and I are really very quiet folks ;) ;) ;) and I just get carried away on this brilliant forum.

Seriously though I am humbled at the mere gesture.

My driveway should very easily take at least six vehicles, and we live in a very quite road with ample room for parking. We also have a large back garden which is ideally suited for a GTG.

If members decide on this epic journey but I will bludgeon 'her that must be obeyed' into organising some sort of refreshments.

Torquay though is a long, long way for most of you to travel, and sadly I have no connections with the hotel trade and regretfully cannot offer, or recommend anywhere for accomodation.

Yours very sincerely,
John

where is the nearest airport john ?

As long as the dates dont clash with my racing shedule - I will be there as a matter of principle :D

So 23 july to 2nd august is out of the question for me as I will be prepping car for TOTB4 - any time before or after that will suit myself and Allison

Just off to look for hotels by the sea :D

Mark

Ok things are looking up and I thank everyone so far. So a date? What say 2nd weekend in August, does that clash with anything? How is that weekend for you John?

Great idea! I'm interested but we've got holidays in August (I guess we are not alone in that!)

My wife has just reminded me she is taking our daughter up to Lincolnshire on that week to celebrate her mothers 90th birthday, so that would be inconvienant.

John

If i can possibly be there, i will !

Late summer is a very busy time for us at work and getting holiday can be a problem, but once a date has been firmed up, i shall work on it !

I was planning a weeks holiday in Brixham sometime soon, so that would be good with me. :bannana:

A trip to the south coast ??

Get the date right and confirmed and count me in. 600 mile round trips are what Mercs were built for.

John, I hope you took out the extended warranty on the kettle. :D

Oh and 6 parking spaces wont cut it either, might need 26 to 36 by the looks of things :bannana:
