The centre console had only a couple of minor cracks, and simply needed relacquering and repolishing.

The door sections were a total loss and needed stripping back to the metal base and reveneering from scratch.

dolph i know you have the part number for the ducktail as yours was original. Do you know the part number and would you mind sharing it? I will then search for it and wait till one comes up.

on ebay germany this comes up, but it looks like it doesnt fit properly. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Mercedes-500...791262193?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item4ab0a633f1

I don't have it to hand, I may be able to get back to the bodyshop and grab the part number before it gets fitted.

It does look a bit misaligned, but that could/should be corrected during fitting to your vehicle.

That's for the bumper, not the spoiler. He did have a spoiler for sale, but it went 3 days ago to a guy in Portugal.

lol, the dangers of going on ebay germany when you dont speak german.

Looking good Drew, I hope you have the tow eye cover for the front bumper :)

Of course not :wallbash: but then for the price I paid for the bumper I'm not really complaining.

Will be getting the bodyshop to just plate it over for now to match the other side. Recovery trucks use straps around the lower arms now so it's not really necessary. Will make sure it is reversible though, because...

...I am going to look into getting moulds taken of the side skirt jacking point covers (and a front towing eye plate if I can find/borrow one) in order to get some replicas made.

I was lucky enough to find a NOS cover on ebay a few months back, couldn't believe my luck when I spotted it. If your going to all that trouble I may let you borrow mine if you make me a spare ;)

Will let you know, going to do the jacking point covers first as they are much more susceptible to loss or damage.

Ok. I've worked out a good way of securing them with some self adhesive pads that have slots in big enough the get cable ties through. I can send you a picture if you're interested.

Silvercrest Woodwork & Design

I may go and pay them a visit with a view to changing the colour of the burl wood finish in my cab.... Is local and looks like a quality place....

They're literally around the corner from me, no idea that there was an outfit like that locally! Looks very good...

Thats the sort of thing Drew. I managed to get one stuck inside the bottom of the skirts and then use two small cable ties linked together to give enough slack to get the cover out but so that it hangs high enough above the ground not to get ripped off if it falls out. I cleaned the area well with Methylated spirit before I stuck them in.

If you haven't got any of these , i have millions , let me know.

One of the dishes wasn't looking too hot, had taken a good thump at some point and then been reshaped with a lump hammer.

So this arrived this morning from the Fatherland...including a couple of packets of sweeties as a thank you!

Problem is, seeing this I'm now tempted to get the other 3 polished up rather than painting, even though I know they'll be a PITA to keep shiny.

Not seen it myself, but my friend popped down to the garage today as he needs some paint on his Scooby P1.

Apparently it's painted but now needs the final polishing.

Saw the car tonight. The rear bumper is on, front bumper and side skirts are ready to go on. The ducktail needs a bit of a tweak to get the curve right to match the bootlid.
Hardtop is done and needs polishing up, the wheel centres have been primed and flatted ready for spraying along with a couple of little trim pieces.
