I just have several barrels of petrol and diesel 😂

Filling 5 litre canisters yesterday (as seen on the TV news) is going way too far. Fill your car if you feel the need but stocking the shed is taking the piss.
I’m fine for fuel. For some reason the MPG in my van and car has improved dramatically in the last few months. 🤷‍♂️🤓

I always have 5 gallon drums of fuel, so no extra filling, just my normal reserve (for garden tractors, power tools, car emergencies, etc.).

Scroll down - there are too many photographs to post - and see what was happening yesterday. Entirely different from having a splash in the shed for the strimmer and chainy - as I do.

Ah right, yeah I see!

Got caught in an hour of traffic yesterday at midday due to people queuing for fuel

Ignored them, didn’t join in, although my light was already on. I actually wasn’t sure what was going on as although I’d heard about the news, I didn’t think people were really going to react in this way. I thought there’d been a big accident, but noticed huge queues and traffic when passing every supermarket.

In the early morning (12:30am) when I had to drop off my friend/colleague, I tried to fill up as the needle was now close to minimum. I ended up driving around for two hours with the cc and radio off on what just have been diesel vapour, trying to find anywhere with diesel - all stations in Cardiff were closed/empty. I drove to over a dozen. Definitely the closest I’ve ever come to running out and was coming to terms with calling up the breakdown service, the needle actually indicated below the minimum line. Eventually found a petrol station that was actually somewhat operational despite having the plastic ‘not in service’ signs on the pump handles, because they’re low on fuel and there’d been fighting and police intervention at the station.

Got home just after 3am.

A really fun evening, but at least our passports are blue ey.

It was much worse than I realised! I only saw a few 5l cans being filled (though more than one person in the same camera frame doing it was visible) on Channel 4 News last night and went for some photos of that for you and found what I posted. The police should be prosecuting. Fuel being gathered there is much more than is permitted.

Is the most expensive fuel in the UK?

This was at Charnock Richard services last week before the panic buying began. I wonder how much their fuel is today and if there any queues?

Might be for a regular pump, but I’ve seen much more than that on the motorway, something around 17x p/l for diesel - it was comical. I pay 153p/L for shell v power diesel regularly, unfortunately. Usually the regular diesel is 135p or so.

The prices advertised for fuel yesterday seemed the same as they’d been for the past few weeks though, in Cardiff.

There are many laws and regulations regarding how much fuel you can carry in your car (containers) I think it used to be 20 or 30 L in STEEL 'Jerry' cans and a max of five litres if plastic. Whatever the regulations say your insurer will have the last say (in the small print) in case of an accident. There used to be a regulation stating you could not keep more than 30litres at home , more than that you had to inform the PEA . Another one your home insurance might be keeping an eye on ,again in the small print.

I could Google the facts of this but I must rush out and fill up my Van, 3 cars and my motorcycle . see you on Tuesday
