Blaming the government and the media for the fuel shortage isn't totally fair IMO. They are reporting a situation that brings out the worst in people.
The majority of blame lies with the selfish and greedy motorist pulling in to top up when they don't need it.
As for those who have been filling up jerry cans, I have nothing but anger.

I liken it to the previous emptying of supermarket shelves of toilet rolls and pasta by stupid idiots who think only about themselves.
Correct, people are the problem.

On my way home yesterday my was was blocked by a line of cars queuing up for fuel, they seemed a bit pissed off with a good horning.

Having been in IT all my working life, I have an ICE and an EV for redundancy and resilience ;) . Yes, I am a man of strong principles ,and I stand firmly with one foot in each camp :thumb:
Likewise, firmly on the fence lol

My son got home OK. The services in the south had cars queueing on the slips roads but by time he got to Watford gap and the midlands, it started to improve and he was able to drive straight into a services and get petrol.

Phil McCann from the BBC , sorry folks I did not realise it had non English commentary. had the volume down . Added to the confusion ! Apologies.

Mrs PMP spotted this on scumbook and just couldn't get her head round the fact it was a wind up. Took teenage daughters 1 and 2 to explain it to her in short syllable words :)

Anyone else filled their car(s) up?

Not me, feck, if I've no fuel I can stay at home, got used to lock down (locked in).

Love the way BBC sent a reporter to a petrol station to report on this - reporter's Name??

Phil McCann!:D:D:D:D

I filled up earlier at Manchester Airport, no problems straight in and out with full tank. I got the text from our fuel card providers this morning with next weeks prices, all three have gone up 3p a litre.

Nope. I'm close to going on reserve but I refuse to drive around looking for a garage that has some super unleaded and then wait in a queue for it.

In either case....:

Ive got a half tank in the Merc, half in the Alfa and my wife has 3/4 in the Abarth. (Of most concern is the lawnmower running on fumes!) My wife wants to visit her recently widowed Mum tomorrow - 200 mile round trip so we’ve been sorting a strategy on which car to use in case fuel isn’t available. Diesel Merc to the rescue! And it took her and her friend to her first triathlon today. The S212 just gets the job done, fantastic tool, I love it! 👍

The government and the media should be ashamed of causing the fuel panic. How many times does panic buying have to be initiated before they learn to shut the F*** up about shortages and let things take their natural course. It couldn't possibly be worse.

My son is on the M1 right now, driving from London to York, having travelled down to pick up his dream car - a Porsche 911 4S. He doesn't have enough fuel to get home. I can see the motorway being littered with cars that have run out.
I think it's illegal to run out of fuel on a motorway . but those who do might have a good defence if taken to court . :p

I paid 166.9p per litre for Shell VPower Unleaded today, and VPower Diesel was 171.9p 😳

It’s not a great time to have a car with 15 mpg potential whilst cruising at 60 mph on the motorway 👀

Might be for a regular pump, but I’ve seen much more than that on the motorway, something around 17x p/l for diesel - it was comical. I pay 153p/L for shell v power diesel regularly, unfortunately. Usually the regular diesel is 135p or so.

The prices advertised for fuel yesterday seemed the same as they’d been for the past few weeks though, in Cardiff.
I also use the v power diesel regularly. If you don’t already have the Shell club card I‘d recommend getting one. Made quite a saving every few visits.
