Hi all,

I have 3 points from 2006 which I would like to get removed. I have checked the direct.gov website and it appears this will cost me £20 to do. I was wondering if I would also be able to get the photo changed at the same time inclusive of this £20, or would this be classed as two separate admin costs and therefore cost me £40? Any ideas?

I only have two years left before I need to renew it anyway but my picture is not very flattering so this would be a good opportunity to change it if I could!

Are you not able to wait for the other two years untill your 10 year photocard renewal comes up?

If not im pretty sure its one fee, I basing this on the line that if your licence is sent away to to DVLA be endorsed you can change your address at the time for free.

Intresting one though, could you keep us updated please.

Simon

Why the need to get them removed? they are very socially acceptable to the point of being meaningless these days..

But , im curious too if they will miss the chance to scam another 20 quid out of you for it.

Socially acceptable? I suppose it depends upon why they are there. You get them for drunk driving too.

No real need. I was sorting through paperwork and noticed they are nearly 5 years out of date and thought it would be 'nice' to have a clean licence and a better photo! Anyone seeing my photocard licence would understand! :D

I got a new, clean licence, with photo change for one fee by saying I'd lost the old one.. :)

But, I did lose it - at the time! Just found it a few weeks later, honest! :) Actually, it's very useful having two, as one can stay in the house in Russia, so I don't forget it and then not be able to drive my Nissan! :D

So, JBR, how's the new 5?

Hmmmm. Maybe we should have a "post your licence/passport" pic thread

:bannana::bannana::bannana:

Change of address is free anyway .

Best value is to wait until you have LOTS of points to remove at once .

Points mean prizes.
12 points and you get a push bike.

Keep them, there cool.

As above, as long as I've known it change of address is FOC - you'll get a new photocard and counterpart, but you cannot change the photo as part of this service.

Maybe you could look into replacing/updating the photo early, that is mandatory every 10 years anyway (at a cost of £25) - you'd like to think that they wouldn't charge for updating the lack of points at the same time?

Will

Correct me if I'm wrong but the points are on the counterpart driving licence, the photocard is one of two parts, the green counterpart is the other paper bit with any endorsements.

Oh it can.....and mine is still in colour which makes it 100x worse!

Hi, if you send it in and pay for the photo change it will automatically have any spent endorsements removed at the same time at no charge.

So, JBR, how's the new 5?

ah...yes.

Well its great but does have a whine when going through the box under engine braking (it a manual).

Dip the clutch and whine goes away, lift the clutch and whine comes back.

Heard it when I test drove it but kinda got carried away with the moment and brought it anyway and thought Id just use the 3 month warranty:doh:

Any ideas though?

Soz for hijack of post
