Removing points from driving licence

Hi all,

I have 3 points from 2006 which I would like to get removed. I have checked the direct.gov website and it appears this will cost me £20 to do. I was wondering if I would also be able to get the photo changed at the same time inclusive of this £20, or would this be classed as two separate admin costs and therefore cost me £40? Any ideas?

I only have two years left before I need to renew it anyway but my picture is not very flattering so this would be a good opportunity to change it if I could!

One word of advice if you have driving entitlement to anything other than cars, such as full motorcycle or HGV etc...

Take a copy of your driving license before you send it to the DVLA and get the copy witnessed as true and accurate by a solicitor.

It might seem odd, but there's been many cases in recent years of licenses coming back with missing entitlements. If you're not able to prove you had the entitlements, and legal copies are the only acceptable proof, then you have to retake the appropriate test.

Regards,

ah...yes.

Well its great but does have a whine when going through the box under engine braking (it a manual).

Dip the clutch and whine goes away, lift the clutch and whine comes back.

Heard it when I test drove it but kinda got carried away with the moment and brought it anyway and thought Id just use the 3 month warranty:doh:

Any ideas though?

Soz for hijack of post

Thrust bearing. Cost about a fiver. Problem is means dropping the gearbox. Should last till you do the clutch next.

i still got old paper one :D

I still have the paper one as well, with 3 points from 1986 and 3 points from 2005. I suppose I could have the lot removed, but that would mean changing to a card type license, think I'll keep my paper one:D

Why is it you folks are so attached to your paper licences? I was super happy to get my card one instead - so much easier to carry about!

No 10-year renewals required (and no additional costs) with the paper one. It lasts till you are 70.

I don't believe there is a legal requirement to carry your licence in the UK.

:thumb: for this one. It appears that the 'A' class (motorcycles) seems to disappear more often than not. DVLA **** up that they just won't put their hands up to unless you can produce absolutely everything. I think there was even a case where the poor sod who lost his bike entitlement was asked to produce his pass certificate - considering he'd passed his test some 20 years before and you have to send the cert. to the DVLA, was just typical of the monkeys who work there!!

I keep a colour, photocopy, endorsed by a legal colleague of both counterpart and photo licence just in case!

Just renewed after 10 years and it came back with all 'letters' safely attached still!!

It's normally the paper one you have to produce if hiring a car etc.

I got a photocard one after my first business trip to the US. I had various documents in the hotel safe, and when I wanted to retrieve them they demanded photo ID first. The only thing I had was my passport ... which was in the safe! :D
