Hi All,
About 4 months ago, I noticed smoke coming out of the front of my ML270CDI. I opened the bonnet, and notice Diesel pouring out of the fuel pump, all over the belts etc.
I immedietly shut off the engine, then removed the engine cover for a closer inspection, and noticed that 'Black Death' had started to form around injector 1. I got the car recovered and had the injector seal fixed by a Mercedes Benz specialist, and also asked them to look into the leak from the fuel pump at the front
.
They successfully fixed the leaking injector, but could not recreate the diesel leak, and it has not re-occured in the last 4-5k miles. I have however noticed that when it is very cold, it can take a bit of time to start. Googling these symptoms has revealed that perished o-rings on these pipes can cause this, which makes sense when considering the one off diesel leak. I would like to try and replace these myself (I am a relatively competent mechanic, having restored a number of
old volkswagens). I do however have a few questions before I start...
1.Is there any way that the blown injector seal cold have caused the leak / blown seals on the pump?
2.How difficult is it to replace the o-rings.
3.How many will I need and is there anywhere to buy them online, or does anyone have the part number?
4.Will I need to re-pressurise the fuel system?
Any help really appreciated
