S211 - Wheel Upgrade - will it ruin the ride?

You're all very kind to offer me a test of the 18s, so thank you.

I saw an identical 211 to mine today with the exact wheels that I like - it looked fabulous. I think I'm buying them anyway!!!

I should be at Olly's GTG in May, if that helps.

Will be good to see you again, when saw you there last year you were making definate sounds towards the 211. I couldnt trouble you for a nosey as I do like the sport model very much.

As one who has a set of staggered 18-in AMG lo-pro on a sport chassis: they can be a bit hard on the bum. Pirelli are smoothest ride but I ditched them off the front for vague wandering in the wet, Michelin having better grip. Do watch they clear your wheel arches if you have lowered sus: for example 245/40 do not clear S210 sports front even with the factory modified arches, 235/40 do (265/35 rear). Get the offset right too, the 18s need offset studs.

If your sus is higher and softer then the big 18s may work better, I would go with slightly more sidewall but I'm stuck with the wheels.

Mine is on standard classic suspension, and the 18s ride fine (not staggered, aftermarket 245/40/18 all round)

If it had sports suspension or Avantgarde I'd be tempted to go to 17 only if ride was a priority, but 18s do look nice.

BQF, did you go for the 18s in the end?
