I've just bought some MB 'touch-up' paint sticks for my car.
a) silver tube
b) laquer tube
Unfortunately the instructions on the back are limited to 'warning inflammable...'!
So the big question is how long does the paint take to dry! :D And laquer? :D

All advice gratefully received EXCEPT any suggestions to 'watch it dry' ;)

I think the abrupt answer is never, it 'cures' i'm told, which takes for ever. Seriously, it all depends on the depth of the coat. I would not be tempted to use the brush supplied but get a couple of very fine artist type ones and a small tin of thinners to clean them in between. Dont 'blob' it on but apply several thin coats with at least a day in between. When you apply 2nd and subsequent coats and also the laquer dont hang around with applying it as it may drag up the previous coats.

Hope this helps, I did some small chips on the alloys on my Polo a few months ago and the above method worked for me.

Its a good plan. I think I'll do one coat every lunchtime until the 'hole' looks flat and then do the laquer. My car is in an underground car park at work and I'll cover it with a plastic coffee tub lid to stop stuff drifting into the wet paint.

I always have a problem of remembering which chips I still have to lacquer,
as they are camoflagued once painted

lucky me - I've only got one to do (he says tempting fate)

The real answer as shown on my touch-up paint is half-an-hour between coats, but I agree longer is better.

Use a hair dryer to speed up the drying proces. Just dont get too close and over heat the paint. And allow it to cool before aplying any more paint. Ive used this method but with a fan heater on whole panels before with great results in my last job.
