SLK R171 manual mirrors, do they fold?

Hi

Just got an SLK 200, 2006 with standard mirros with electric glass adjustment but not the electric folding option. Having looked throigh the manual I cant find how or if the wing mirrors can be folded in manually.

Can this be done and I am just not pushing hard enough?

Failing that, how much would it be to convert them to electric folding mirrors, if this is possible?

I checked my manual after seeing your original post, and couldn't see it covered anywhere either. Common sense says they must be manually foldable (I think this may even be a legal/safety requirement under the Construction and Use regulations) but I've never actually tried to fold mine and, like you, I'd be reluctant to push too hard if they were offering much resistance.

I'm pretty sure you can't manually fold the mirrors on some B-classes and 169 A-classes, so it is quite possible.

All door mirrors must fold on impact (with pedestrians for example). It will require a degree of force initially. This doesn't mean they are designed to be folded routinely.

I must say I'm surprised you don't have the button on the dash to fold them?

Not sure about your car, but on later cars electric folding mirrors are a part of the "Comfort Package".

Hi, I have 2011 c220. Without the auto wing mirror option installed. Anyone in Buckinghamshire, pref in the north of the county, fitted the electric fold in upgrade ?
