The reason I ask is I am interested in trying it out, but I get ****** off when I spend 20 quid down the local valet and then get bird **** on the car an hour later, and can't imagine how ****** off I would be I'd I had dropped the kind of money it must take to have this done.

Just do what most normal car enthusiasts do and clean it once a month and maybe a bit of polish and wax once a year.

Time spent cleaning is time that could be spent driving...

Interior looked lovely and smelt good too.

Abit of wax residue here and there on the bodywork that you missed, but I'll forgive you for that ;) :D

Are you sure its not C1 Clouding in small areas. It was applied on friday and he took it saturday. In the sun, excess can cloud up, which is residue that doesnt bond to the paint as its not needed. Just needs to be buffed off with a soft microfibre. Unfortuntely out of my control if its left. This is one of the reasons we try to keep cars in for 48 hours after C1 application, just incase it clouds.

Yes, that could be what it was. It was pinky in colour.
There was some under both ends of the boot lid spoiler and some on one of the rear door window trims.

I'm sure he'll spot it soon enough.. If not, I'll grill him for not maintaining the car's new detailed image!!

Looks like a lot of orange peel effect in the paintwork, look at the reflection on the boxes on the metal bodywork to the bumper.

Our C class arrived with a lot of orange peel, it seems to be standard these days.

Quite standard.

I believe you can get this worked out by having the paint machined down until it is smooth and straight. Obviously doing this means working some of the paint off.

Personally, I prefer to have as much paint on the car as possible and would prefer not to have this type of paint correction.

To remove the orange peel, you would have to colour sand the lacquer. This would be your wet sanding in 4-5 stages (depending on the level of orange peel. Then you would compound it. Then polish and finish off with a refining polish. It's a serious job and involves a lot more then some care to believe. Also to complete the job properly you would want to level the lacquer all the way around to as close as each point as possible. So prepare to have lots of laser pens, ptg and heat reader. Mixed with taking more measurements then a Taylor in Savile row.
 
Orange peel is designed in at the paint stage to reduce the effect of minor panel imperfections, however it seems that most manufacturers are not controlling it adequately.
