Right now my pee is boiling. Got a call from security this afternoon that some one broke into my car. We have an over flow car park provided by Slough council.

Turns out that some **** broke the fuel flap and sucked out 50 ltrs of fuel into a Jerry can. This must have been quite heavy so they hid the can some 2parking slots away, probably hoping to pick it up afterwards. The police have now taken the can along with my fuel as well as a some suction pump the thieves used.

Thankfully, they did not gain entry into the car, looks like they were only after the fuel. The copper says that they must have left it behind as it was quite heavy.....Well why steal it in the first place:mad:

Looks like I wont get the fuel back as the items have gone off to forensic and they are most likely to dump it afterwards. Am left with a damaged fuel flap and small paint scrapes and about 45.00 loss of fuel. The irony of it is I only filled the tank up this morning.:(

I have a feeling my car was picked on as it does not have a lockable fuel cap. Does any one know where I can get one for a 124 220CE, or does MB even make one for these cars?

I know fuel prices have gone up, but this is ridiculous:crazy:

Gutting mate :(

I thought the flap that covers the petrol cap would have locked shut with the central locking. In which case they must have caused some damage to the locking pin as well as the inevitable cosmetic scarring :(

You should be able to get non-OEM locking petrol caps from any good motor factors or failing that Halfords.

I once had a mate that had his Golf broken into because the thieves spotted a 6pack of Sainsburys lemonade. Much damage caused and all for some drinks that cost approx £1.50.

Shooting's too good for 'em

My car a w140 s420 was emptied of it's fuel whilst it was parked on my drive! We had been out with the wife's car and saw the petrol flap open and cap missing upon our arrival. The scum had used a screwdriver to prise open the flap & damaged the paintwork & the flap.
My guess is that they emptied the petrol from my car into their car.
I have now installed additional security lighting.
It appears that high petrol prices have now encouraged this kind of theft. I guess the thieving scumbags have realised stealing petrol is easy money.

The central locking does lock this, but can be easily pryed open with a screw driver. I just want to catch this prat and give him a bloody good hiding:devil:

Sorry to hear the bad news Vips...

Scum will do anything for a few quid!!! Was your car parked in the multi storey car park by the High Street by any chance (that place is notorious for car crime...).

SClass: I bet that the scum targeted the W140 becasue they figured out it would have a big fuel tank hence a "jack pot" it it was full!!!

Yup, in the hatfield car park!!

Sounds like an inside job involving petrol station staff - who else knew you had a full tank?

I was wondering about that!! Thinking some one could have been following me....for 20 miles!!! surely not:crazy:

Sorry to hear that VIPS.
If they had filled the jerry can then hid it to pick it up later couldn't you have performed a stake-out?
Maybe caught them when they were returning to pick it up?
Mac.

If possible, use the Tesco Car park as that is not as bad as the Hatfield Car Park - that car park is "patrolled" by crack heads looking for easy money for their habit/fix!!!

ECP no longer patrol/monitor the Tesco Car Park so there are no parking restrictions on the length of stay which was before restricted to 3 hours only...;)

You would have thought so!! But by the time I was alerted, the police had already came and took the evidence away and left a note on my windscreen to contact them. This is exactly what I told the officer and she states that it is evidence and therefore had to be taken away!

I've also been informed that I will not get my fuel back!!

Hmm... not sure about that. I think that witholding your property could in itself be construed as theft.

Try ringing up the police station to report the theft of your petrol by the police and see how quickly they give it back to you.

Mind you, I wouldnt be that happy about putting it back in my car for fear of contaminants.

Thats bad news mate...........

bet your well p*ssed off!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, do you work at wellington house or was it the overflow car park at the town hall????????????

i used to work at sbc.....................nothing on CCTV?

Sorry, just read it....the hatfield carpark behind ecobar...............

Police took a statement from me today. They tell me that there have been 8 other incidents involving theft of fuel from cars in the last week in and around the slough area!!! Mainly been on larger cars that don't have locks on the cap.

Its good to bear in mind that it can happen just about anywhere in the UK thanks to Gordon B's doing, so please be extra vigilant as it appears to be an easy crime to carry out.

Just a thought, my car is petrol, and wondered if I should put one of those diesel badges on the back of the car. So should the twats try this again, they will actually end up putting petrol in a diesel engine.:bannana:

but why not?

what authority have they got for keeping it - eg if it was the radio you'de get that back - I would want to see a written reason from the police

I'll get some clarification from them why I won't get it back. To be honest, Not really bothered getting the fuel back as it may be contaminated.

Gutted. I guess this will only get more common though with the way fuel prices are going. I always fill my tank up when empty. Just wonder if it may be worth putting in what is needed.
