Here's another one - hypothetical this time though.
What would happen in this case?
Your car breaks down half-way through the roadworks on the M1 between J25 and J28 - all SPECS controlled. Your car is subsequently recovered on the back of an AA flatback wagon. The wagon fails to adhere to the limit, and the cameras pick YOUR number plate off the back of the wagon, not the wagon's (separate point - can SPECS pick up more than one number from each vehicle passing????). Several days later and you get the fixed penalty notice...

You were able to change lanes between cameras without the risk of being caught speeding but now some cameras are linked so this loophole is being closed. On the A38 Plymouth roadworks the lanes have been seperated preventing you from changing lanes. Not sure if it's true or not but here goes... i was told that an area with specs camera's - for talking sake ,lets say their is 20 specs camera's, only certain camera's are "active" at a time....apparantly their isn't enough computing power to calculate every car being timed trough every section so for talking sake again....you are only timed between camera's 4 and 16...like i say, i dont know how accurate the info is...but if that is the case, what would happen if you was in a different lane between active camera's..... would you still be picked up? seeing how on dual-carriage ways you have 1 camera per lane!!!
Just a thought.........
Think about it. How long has it taken to pass between two cameras? Also surely it photogarphs the offender, thus it will see the czar on the back and obviously not fine it. Also, think about the recovery truck, it passes the first camera then ages, ages, later passes the second. He could do 150 mph and still not be above the max average.
cars being transported are supposed to have their number plates covered , but of course this does not always happen
Probably something to do with cloning. The same reason that breakers remove the number plates from scrapped cars.

They're limited to 56 anyway.
Isthis you saying 'what if' or have you personal knowledge of anything like this taking place? But this relates to my point. Who 'sees' it exactly? It is an optical character recognition software application. Not a person. How can it distinguish between the 2 sets of plates on a recovery vehicle? The only hope is in this situation if a human goes through the list of 'offenders' prior to the postbag going out and applies some intelligence. Errr - we're doomed!
Secondly, this stretch has at least 15 sets of cameras in both directions. He can still speed through several sets of cameras after picking up my car!
And on the very occasional time where a recovery truck has had to come to my aid, not once have my numberplates been covered.
Exactly! The M1 is restricted to 50 through this stretch.

"We do not belive that Motorcyclist speed"
10 peee says he was talking about push bikes to abloke on t'internetWay back in 2000-2001 the Chief Inspector for Cambridgeshire was interviewed after they had spend £XXXXXX on Truvo cameras (front facing cameras).
He was asked "What about Motorbikes, they have no front plate"
He replied:
"We do not belive that Motorcyclist speed"
Yeah, right.
I was travelling (legally) at 95 in a 60 on a rural A road today, when I was overtaken by a bike. Muppet...................
That is a ridiculous statement!
How can you possibly be travelling LEGALLY @95mph on a rural 60mph???
