Star mods on a 2004 facelifted W203

Is it possible to set V-max (250km/h) higher by star (developer mode) in W203 facelift AMG?

the art of the possible

At the risk of taking another tongue lashing from Howard and the rest of Alfie's fan club, I'd like to offer the following clarification.

Some of us - and it looks like Crockers agrees - think that a simple summary of possible Star mods would be a good thing. At present, I don't even know what question to ask the specialists, never mind understanding the answer. Despite such a summary having been asked for a few times though, no answer has yet been forthcoming.

I don't suggest, and never have, as Howard seems to think, that I want to know *how* to do these wonderful mods, simply what mods can, or can't *be* done to which models. I also don't suggest they be done on the cheap - I'm quite prepared to pay the going rate - provided I can find a Star specialist closer than Kent.

It might also be that a simple 'art of the possible' summary might tempt a few more of us to embark on these mods - that would increase these specialists' business - surely a *good thing*.

Hi,

Not sure what you mean by a tongue lashing. I hope you havnt been verbally abused. If you have its not in my name. Also, Crockers has long since had his mods done as this thread seems to be about 3 years old now.

I must say I didnt realise I had a fan club:)

There are many things that can be done with STAR by way of modifications on model year 2005 - model year 2008 cars.

The ones I concentrate on are;

UK mode deletion. This enables the status line for other items.
Outside temperature/MPH (switchable) in the status line
Fuel tank content display.
Auto folding mirrors when locking/unlocking. Requires electrically folding mirrors.
Radio frequency/memory searching via the steering wheel
Tyre pressure loss warning.

I know that cornering lights, alarm 'chirping' and maximum speed limitation removal can also be done but have yet to experiement with those two.

I am sure that Miro and Richard will add to this list.

Yes I believe it is. I have found the relevant options (there are two that need altering) and I will experiment with this on my car very soon:) The trick will be where do I test it? May have to take the car and STAR to Bruntingthorpe unless anyone knows of an airstrip near Surrey thats available for this sort of thing. Dunsfold is not available apparently.

Blimey .... i'm presuming you are refering to the post from February  where i said that you can hardly expect people who make their money from doing things like this to tell you how to do it for free ?

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/82709-change-mfd-display-show-outside-temp.html

To be honest it was so long ago and meaningless in the greater scheme of things i had long forgotten about it ( and you ) .... sorry to hear that you have been brooding on it for 6 months  Having re-read it again , personally i can't see what is offensive in what i have said ?

Don't worry Alfie , it wasn't a tongue lashing , or any verbal abuse , merely a statement of fact. If you click the link above , you can see what it was all about. Several people seemed to agree with me as you can see.

I don't suggest, and never have, as Howard seems to think, that I want to know *how* to do these wonderful mods ......

Geoff

Perhaps i misread this post of yours ?

Maybe I'll buy a STAR and learn and become the north's equivalent of Richard.

Geoff

Anyway , good luck with your STAR mods.

All the best

Even so , the three year old post doesn't appear to be rude as far as i can see ?

Again , it's just stating the facts ...

Hope i haven't ruined someones life for the last three years .....

Nahhhh I doubt it.

You are one of the most mild mannered and decent people I know.

I have a Star for sale Geoff if you wish to "Have a go". You will struggle if you don't know the system!

Otherwise I can you what you require as can Alfie. I charge about a tenner a mod.

I thought I had all the mods covered on my w203, curtsey of Alfie.

Automatically folding exterior mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring, tank capacity, and UK mode deleted

But the... I saw this.... a mode I don't have!

Date on the instrument cluster display! How is this possible? :(

Easyly. Just set it diplayed by star. Do you have enabled segment dislay for seat belt warning? I have also enabled segment dislay for Preglow in my diesel w203.

Sprechen Sie Englisch? Parlez vous Anglais?

I know not what '
segment display for seat belt warning' is....

I'll need to ask Alfie for a translation.... :(

Do you mean that the thingy in the middle is programmable? That opens a whole range of possibilities....

Thats the 'Datum in Grundbild' setting - (or something similar in words to that) - I can't remember if the format of the date is setable though because I only set it once and turned it off again - to be honest, I had forgotten it even existed !!!

Can I please add this to my wish list for when we next meet? I'm sure my Merc will need your services again sooner or later :)

Some more mods I don't have ;) :
