Still searching….

Old 3 series reliable as old boots.

M47 engine so no timing chain issues
No DPF to worry about either

Scratch that bonnet looks outta whack probs been pranged but something like that

S class!

I’m sure I’ve read to avoid them. Lots of cheap ones knocking about, but they can be horrendous when they go wrong can’t they?

Don't know if you could stretch, or negotiate down a little, but this CLS350 looks a beauty!

Great looking paint.
Only 2 owners.
Bishop's Stortford looks like the sort of place people with plenty of cash live. In fact the seller's house looks like they have plenty of cash aka good chance of well maintained.
Very rare 350 petrol V6, but obviously has an economy penalty, but now diesel's so expensive, not as bad as it was.

I really really like this one.

But apologies, it's even further away.

Edit: just look at the interior. So well cared for. Loads at this age have cracks in the dash, scuffs on the console, missing chunks out of trim. The leather looks very very good!

Edit2: tomorrow, I'm looking at an E class in Dartford, via Bishop's Stortford!

Edit3: Would need the headlights touching up due to clouding, esp driver's side. But that's 'only' bumper off, headlight out, wet and dry 600 to 1200 grit, clean, and then spray with a £25 can of 2k clear lacquer. Very very easy weekend job in the summer.

A love a CLS and I’ve driven a couple including the diesel. I’ve seen a few of them knocking about, but again I thought they were on the avoid list for some reason. Like why are they so cheap?

I think we've found out why 😄

£615 a year. I repeat. £615 a year!

The petrol engine of that age can have some major issues, but the 320 3l diesel is a peach. I've had it in a CLK and CLS and it's fast, smooth, quiet, economical and reliable.

The CLS is a fantastic looking machine too.

Just to add (having owned all of them) a C saloon/estate is a big step up from a C hatch in terms of smoothness, comfort and quality. A CLK is a huge step up from a C. An E is a big step up from a CLK. And a CLS is another big step up from an E. MB know exactly how to play the game in terms of pricing and marketing these models when new. Which means there are some real bargains out there for the shrewd used car buyer.
