TalkTalk

All I can say is NEVER go with Talk Talk, I've cleared it from my memory the nightmare I had with them. Google them...

I've been with sky for TV, Broadband, phone for 3 years now and it does everything. You get to speak to English speaking call centre people and can manage account on line.

Sorry for me I would NEVER NEVER NEVER recommend them to anyone.

My in-laws have TalkTalk, which mercifully (for the moment) works fine.

But... setting up their wireless broadband was nightmare finally resolved with a new router.

However, support for our ticket was managed from India or somewhere by a dis-interested man more pre-occupied by the partying going on around him!

I'm another one who has had absolute nightmares with TalkTalk - I'm now happily with plusnet who have decent customer services as well as good value products etc.

AVOID,AVOID,AVOID. Not too strong that, was it.! Talk-Talk are exactly that, a lot of Talk-Talk, Unbundling is only taking the parts of your existing contract with BT and separating them, you will retain the BT line, so now tell me how they can GUARANTEE, faster broadband, we did exactly the same and came a cropper, took us 3 months to get out of the contract, stating that the download speeds had not even reached 1meg let alone 2. this was 2 years ago, they promise the earth and deliver diddly. Stay where you are.:wallbash:

The way they will justify faster broadband speeds is by claiming to instal their own ADSL2 equipment alongside BT's.

Whether they will do that anytime soon outside of major towns is anyones guess...:(

When I entered my phone number into their line speed tester (guaranteeing me another sales call) it said 2 mb but would need their turbo booster.
When Reading through small print somewhere on their site it says turbo boost only works on 8mb+ connections. So go figure that one.
Think I'll stay where I am. Easiest option is do nothing :)

thanks for all the feedback and advice much appreciated

I have 2no Talk-Talk wireless routers for sale and 1no wired router.

When a wireless router was requested, Talk-Talk seemed to get confused with the number 1 and the number 3...

I was with Tiscali for years and never had a problem.
Last month I switched to o2 and have more than twice the download speed thanks to the LLU kit installed in my local exchange.
Except the bloody thing is down more than it's up.
o2 customer service is terrible and I'm up to 4 pages in my catalogue of disasters.

The latest development is a Bt engineer is coming out tomorrow? (still awaiting confirmation, due yesterday) to fix the connection. But it is now working again having fixed itself apparently.

After the past few weeks of being 'better connected' I would go back to my old Tiscali account in a heartbeat. At least it worked.

I have requested my MAC code and still have a few days to decide whether to give them up.

I changed from Tiscali/Talktalk earlier this month to BTinternet and just received a bill from Tiscali for the whole of March. Fair enough the bill was dated the day after the changeover so could have been a error on their part. I spoke to Btinternet and they informed me that Tiscali would have known my ISP had moved from them as soon as my MAC was changed to BTinternet.

Still Tiscali/Talktalk insist I send them a copy of BTinternet's letter confirming I was now with them. So although they knew they were no longer providing my broadband service, this is obviously not enough to stop them charging my account.

After 15 years with Tiscali on dial-up and broadband without any complaints, Talktalk (having increased the monthly charge by £5 for the same service) have driven another customer away by their greed.

With, touch and bargepole spring to mind when I think of Talktalk now.

This exactly mirrors my experience. joined BT on 3rd of this month. got bill from TT till end of month. "Oops! send us confirmation of BT connect day and we'll refund". If you need to talk to them do a Saynoto0845 search and the landline number gets answered fairy quickly.

Latest update on my changeover from Tiscali/TalkTalk, I received a letter form them date 12 days after my ISP was changed to BTinternet.

"We have notified BT to remove our broadband service etc. this will be completed on 29th March 2010"

Does anyone at TalkTalk know what they are doing? On second thoughts I think they do, as all the errors made by them are in their favour financially.

BT every time. They own the network all others sub contract..

Not the cheapest but definitely the best IMHO. Never drops below 8mb, never had interruptions, service 1st class (BT Vision box crashed, engineer round next day, all sorted at no cost)

To resurrect this thread. Went from Tiscali to BT on the 3rd March. Sent all the relevant paperwork to TalkTalk in plenty time, in fact, have letter from them dated 23rd Feb supplying MAC code and regretting the move. Now being hounded by them for payment of broadband and telephone service till end of March. Still connected to their server despite numerous phonecalls to helpline. I cancelled my direct debit to them after they sent the first bill. Now I'm effectively being threatened for non-payment and of being cut-off from their broadband on 7th April if I don't re-instate the DD.
Wrote to them for the third time today which is becoming tedious.
What does one have to do to shake them off? :wallbash:

My mobile phone was on a carphone warehouse tariff (Fresh Telecom).

Recently had a call from Talk Mobile advising that my service was being discontinued & I would be seamlessly transferred to a Talk Mobile contract. Monthly deal seemed OK so I agreed.

Following a business change just over a year ago, I have an old business bank account which is "frozen" (by choice) pending termination of that business. Fresh Telecom were advised of business change and hold details of of the new business account.

Fresh Telecom took their final payment from the new account.

Talk Mobile attempted to take their first payment from the old frozen account resulting in an "unpaid item fee" of £35 from the bank and a £5 charge from Talk Mobile for the payment being refused.

Another half hour on the phone to customer services!

TalkTalk has now split from Carphone warehouse, hasn't it? Something in the paper earlier this week.

This may be why "fresh" ceased operating & I was transferred to talk mobile

I think there is an error in this threads title, it should be TAKETAKE.
