The 2013 LOMP

What a fun few hours driving that was...a couple of routes were particularly good with nice well sighted roads and decent pace. Brian, Martyn, Simon and, of course, the resident (but temporarily vacated :() Steve....great to meet you all. A really friendly bunch and you even have the 'old goats' (my outlaws, for those who are wondering :D) working out how to join the forum and asking about future GTG's (although I don't think the Bluewater ones would be up their street :D)!

It's a shame so few turned up, we lost one very early on....who was actually in the lead and we couldn't keep up  (can't remember your name as it took me all day to remember the others, but nice 124 cab anyway :thumb:).

I can't say some of the roads suited the SLS particularly well. Indeed, the width of it was a challenge on many occasions, but especially on 'The Struggle' where I was easily the slowest of the bunch! The (very) poor road surfaces didn't show it in its best light either - it was just too stiff to be truly comfortable on the poorest surfaces. But on the smoother wider stuff....bliss! The people on those horses must have heard me coming for a considerable time before I appeared over the top of the brow where I had to brake fairly hard  They all seemed hugely relieved when I managed to coast past them at 10mph :D

Hopefully Steve will be back soon with some pics....he seemed to take enough of them!

Welcome back Steve.

Look forward to seeing the pics. Looks a brilliant area and I'm sure you've done 'your usual' and taken great piccies.

What a great GTG. Shame so many had to drop out. We had brilliant weather and excellent company, thanks to you all.
Glad you enjoyed the route Palmball.

Stunning scenery and excellent weather..
I actually went back there today (Sunday) and re did it at a pace that allowed me to see the scenery...
Slightly less snow but still damned good.
A few pics to be going on with..

You should get yourself an old Citroen then...nice and floppy. ;)
Today, amongst others, I've driven an S2 XM 3.0 Exclusive auto and a S1 V6-24 valve, with DIRAVI steering.
There were CX, XM, GSA, New DS, Old DS, BX, C6 and all other flavours.

If you had turned up at Burghley house you could have had some drives or rides for sure. It's been a good day out, maybe, even your in laws would have liked it.

Is that the road to Windemere from Patterdale? If so, it has good memories for me...at least after dispatching a slow Mazda 2, then being released.

Yes, my SLS is the ultimate contrast to a proper Citroen!

You now of course know of my closet Citroen fascination ;) Well, the 'real' ones only....and they're now long gone :( I used to be a CCC member believe it or not

I was looking at a S1 XM 24v a couple of weeks ago mainly because the XM holds a kind of nostalgia for me and, well, because it's the rarest and fastest version of an underrated car. I'd have paid a reasonable amount to get it but the reality is I don't have the time or patience for a second car, especially one that would probably be relatively high maintenance  I'd also struggle walking past the SLS to use something else (anything else) on a regular basis!

Anyway, whilst checking out the XM forum for some homework, imagine my surprise when I saw who was one of the top posters on there :p

Damn....I just checked and that XM 24v is still for sale on eBay

Must need a hell of a lot of work doing to it as they don;t normally hang around long, not at that price anyway!

Anyway, sorry to MB guys - you don't wanna be reading about some old french tat ;)

DM - That is the Honister Pass, taken from the slate mine.

Was a great meet, we certainly got the weather for it! Seeing and hearing the beautiful SLS in person was also bliss, what a noise from the 6.3 V8!!! Food wasn't bad either... :)

Nice photos Simon. Looking forward to seeing what Steve come away with too!
