Thought I would float this as an idea for a GTG/day out in the Summer, I will be doing some form of track activity so ideas welcome.
This is great for people you want to have a great fun day but not buy a new set of tyres at the end of it.
The floor is yours ladies and gents, what do you think??

If you would prefer a more traditional trackday/experience day then please speak up.

The Prescott Hillclimb Drivers School was established in 1984 providing expert tuition both to those with existing experience of hillclimb driving and to newcomers to the sport. Speed Hillclimbing is now more popular than ever before. More and more drivers are taking to the hills where true sportsmanship thrives and where motorsport can be enjoyed without the pressure of commercialism so often found in other sections of the sport.

Prescott has a unique place in the history of hillimbing. Here Stirling Moss had his first drive in a racing car, the first ever Cooper made its competition debut and in later years Peter Collins and Graham Hill and many other famous names joined the ranks of Prescott competitors.

Our objective is to develop your existing skills and to teach you new ones. Each ascent is recorded by video camera and receives individual comments by the Instruction Team. This means you can follow your progress through the day, correct mistakes and experience the satisfaction that comes from applying correct car control.

Looks like it could be a right laugh on a nice summers day :D

How many people could they cope with at once? E.g. by way of comparison the skid pan GTG at Castle Coombe will have 24 people in total. Although that's 12 per am and 12 per pm.

They run with 30-32 students per day, If we book 30 they will give 2 free.
They run on Wednesdays but if we wanted to book the whole course then 7th July and 8th Sept are the only dates left.
For less than the full course we have various Wednesdays June to Sept.

As I have said to Steve, dont worry about damaging your car as the track is not that narrow and you build your pace throughout the day.

I'm fairly keen. Anyone else???

Yet another day to show off my complete lack of co-ordinated steering ability!

Heh more like show off that snazzy camera mount of yours :D

*EDIT* Ooh that read quite bad and that's not how it was meant. So have you got any more fun use from that camera mount Scotty??

Soz for going OT Mark but just to go back on topic, I'll throw my hat into the ring for this event if we get enough numbers.

Sounds like fun to me . I'm interested.

Not sure about a week day event though. a few questions if I may ...

What sort of cars do people turn up in? every day cars or is it for cars like caterhams and the like?

Do you have to use your own car? or are there special cars available to use on the day?

Hi Steve
Yes you do use your own car.
People run absolutely everything, I know they have had 1 litre Citroens up to ex-F1 cars run, even Volvo estates. Things like Caterhams rule the hill in the competitions but on a training day its just about having fun with what you got.

I would imagine that some people may be worried about running your own car, but if you can imaging the Bugattis that run up the hill ( huge things with push bike tyres on, and worth mega ££) and I have never seen one come of the track even in competition!

The weekday meet is the only real downside to the event.

As a slight aside another option I have also been looking at is an oulton park track day which is at a weekend.
All sugestions welcome.

Hope that helped, any more questions fire away.
