Too good to be true or are prices REALLY this soft for new shape Boxster?

I would think twice before handing over any dosh no matter how nice the guy was.

Would he not settle for the cash being held by an escrow agent. That way you would both be covered should it turn out to be a scam.

It only costs about 1% of the purchase value but offers peace of mind to both buyer and seller.

Usually if it's a scam and you mention escrow then the scammers suddenly dissappear.

Anyway hope it all works out for you and enjoy the car when it gets here.

Nah a phoney web site would never ever be part of a well set up scam designed to relieve gullible bargain hunters of thousands of pounds - nah that could never happen.

My advice never ever ever buy a car unless you have been to the owners house and established he really lives there permanently and its his/her name and address on the V5. It won't save you from all the perils of buying a car privately but it is a good starting point; after that you can start to consider things like outstanding finance and condition of the car.

Nah, he seemed like a really nice bloke.

He even gave me a reference number for the container the car is in.

The car was already at the port when I paid the deposit, because I checked the shipper's website before I sent the money by Western Union - he even sent me a link to it so I could be satisfied it was on the way before I parted with my money.

Surely a phoney website wouldn't all be part of an elaborate scam would it?

PS Trademark invisible text: I haven't parted with a penny, nor did I phone the seller. However I know someone who fell for a scam exactly as I've described here, and IIRC lost £5k in the process!!

Keep us posted when you get your car with a snap. Good luck.

I have seen load of posts like that at autotrader, I was advised not to even give your email address away let alone your dosh. Salesmen are nice blokes else they won't be salesmen.

I think bobby is taking the urea

oh i never worked that out

maybe he has not really sent the money you mean?

maybe he has sent them an envelope full of Monopoly money?

oooh, he had me go........., nah, no he didn't

raised a smile though

then raised disbeleif when he announced someone did fall for a similar scam:eek:

You cannot con an honest person.....

Only those trying to find something for nothing get caught.
