Torque wrench- how do you know it's accurate ??

Think of it this way; if the auditor is fussing about the traceability of your torque wrench calibration, then there's obviously nothing else wrong with your processes.

If you want to distract them; put some spelling mistakes or some confusing instructions in a procedure and let them find it and tell you to correct it.

We do , there is always somethings that has been "overlooked" prior to their visit.

The main reason many important torques, engine head bolts/nuts, big ends etc went to angle torques is because of inaccurate dealer mechanics torque wrenches.

What's an angle torque??

Auditors do get excited at times because they just do not know their job so they make things up.

Notified Bodies and the like are under pressure; too wide a scope can exacerbate this.

Having managed a metrology lab, the calibration trail back to National Standards was one of the easiest elements. The quality system either works as intended, or one has lots of equipment picked up as out of date.
