Tracker AND Speed Camera Detector?

Is it possible to buy a dual device?
Is this yet more extras for the impending SL?:)

Tracker is pretty useless. Limited number of places you can fit it, so it is easy to find. Many insurance companies don't require it. And you have to pay an annual subscription. Better to spend it on the car IMO.

I have the Garmin Speed Camera detector and am delighted with it. Halfords said it is a lot more reliable than TomTom. Garmin make lots of aero stuff. Top quality. Remarkably cheap nowadays. Does SatNav too of course and I have found it better than COMAND. And you can update a lot of it for free and other bits (like safety camera updates every week) for a modest annual sub. With COMAND you need a new disc every year for £250. And it does not do cameras of course.

Little correction here, you do not have to buy a disc every year, and for this SL they cost £120. My car has only ever had 2 disc

The ideal scenario would be a Comand system with a hard drive onto which one could load updates / POI via a SD card......well the W204 has the hard drive......just a few more tweaks needed and we are there...:bannana:

I so agree with crockers. Why can't they make COMAND easily updateable.

Thanks Malcolm. I did not put it very well. Should have said if you want to update COMAND, on my 2005 S class it costs you £250 for a new disc every time. So you either get out of date or pay up!

Alfie,
Just me being overly cautious but I would be very wary of having easily 'nicked' gadgets. You are talking soft-top and sadly it is very easy to get access into the cockpit. I'm sure you can stick a GPS aerial anywhere but remember out of sight is out of mind  ;)

Tracker is sometimes stipulated by insurance companies and it is down to you to weigh up the pro's and con's but do not be too put off by price; it does not have to be a yearly contract as they do, do a one off payment which will last you the life-time of the car. Would we want our car back if it has been stolen? I wouldn't.

Happy hunting
Regards
John

All depends on what happened whilst away from my care. After all, I wouldn't move house if I were burgled for a couple of things, but I may if the house was virtually destroyed.

Yes. Smart Nav by trafficmaster. It acts as atracker, speed camera detector-fixed locations and of course fantastic navigation.

Even though I have installed comand, I don't use it for navigation as the voice comands of Smart nav are SO much better, accurate, timely and it diverts you around delays fantastically well.HTH

Isn't that one where you have to pay a pretty hefty sub?
