Just a bit curious as to why people are generally anti cleaning additives for transmissions. A know someone who is a rep for BG additives and gave me a can of quick clean to try. He's had some good results on Range Rovers apparently. Anyone know of the down sides?
Thanks
Tim

Is it this one?:

I am assuming that the argument against it would the same as that against engine oil flush - i.e. that strong detergents can dislodge deposits from their current harmless resting place, and circulate them into tiny oilways where they will cause blockage and as result engine damage.

Not sure if this is actually true or not... but this is the usual case against flushing oils.

That's the fella MJ , thanks for the reply.

"BG Quick Clean for Transmissions dissolves and removes deposits from the valve body, the filter screen and many other critical transmission components."

So where do the deposits go once Quick Clean has dislodged them from their resting place in a sealed transmission I wonder?

This stuff is put in just before an oil change, stick it in, go through all the gears and then flush it out again.
