Trip to south france!

A nice area. I prefer the coastal villages, Port Grimauld, St Tropez, St Maxime and Les Issambres. As you say the hilly roads are a joy to drive..

Me too, I love St. Tropez. Me and the other half stay there whenever we can. Our place is in st tropez, I don't look forward to coming back to the UK when I'm their.

We are looking to move their permanently in the near future..

Driving to Monte Carlo is amazing too.

Looks a lovely part of the world, and a great blast down! Have done the Alps and Low Countries in quite a bit of detail, so the Cote d'Azur is high on the list for next year! Would you say its worth going around Easter?

Thanks! Will be V-Power, views and wine. Probably only for four days around a weekend so no time for the beach! Any restaurant tips?

I'm new to this place yesterday we went to port grimaud and we had a lovely seafood diner along with some very nice wine at marees !:)

I'm down here too. Set off Friday morning from doncaster and arrived in Gassin ( not far from port grimoud ) at 3am Saturday. Motorways in France are just awesome. A steady 95 all the way down with hardly any need for brakes. I ll look out for you, can't be that many Brits in c63 estates! Had a few locals liking the car down here, makes a change from Peugeots!

The French will think it's a Hire Car Pilots convention.

Hmm, been busy most of today, not on here. I prefer more remote reaches for my holidays now, though I love the cosmopolitan atmosphere of France in general and especially the Cote-Azure.
I remember a particularly heavy long w/e in Juan le pins...fly with hand luggage, collect Espace, Hotel, restaurant, bar, club, hotel, Monte Carlo, hotel, Cannes, etc...

Ahh, your love of French cars - every man has a weakness.

Saying that, there are some amazing Citroens on the roads in France, in various levels of condition!

Look at that stunning views at plage gigaro!!!

Easter works well for us because the weather is pleasant (not hot) and the four-day bank holiday means we can stay much longer without taking time off school or work. Most importantly, it's also easier to get the right accommodation as it's essentially out of season. Make the trip - you'll love it!

789 miles in 8 hours??!!

yes mate and is not the 1st time I average 100mph !!

Not any of the times you average 100mph. :D

I'm very familiar with that area: camped in Port Grimaud many times, and cycled down there from the UK in 1996. Be careful on the road up to La Garde Freinet from the north: I've seen a few nasty accidents there.

The coast road is a traffic jam for most of the weekdays: try to avoid it if you can.

Too busy having fun for long posts, but been near Cannes for just over a week (Mandelieu-La Napoule). Parking in Monaco not an issue, parked in La Condamine last week ( 6 hours at 11 Euro ish). Found the Sanef toll tag priceless as all those 100 mph cruisers sat in a queue for a ticket.

C36, if you have time and want a view visit Gourdon just north if Grasse. Hilltop fortress that overlooks the whole Cannes/Antibes Bay Area. I can assure you your average speed to this location will be considerably less than 100! Pictures to follow.

Off to Monaco again.

Enjoy.

I'm in Cannes for a week in October for MIPCOM, a TV trade event . Driving up from Southern Spain on the way back from Holiday. I've only ever flown there before, is car access ok, parking etc?

Any advice would be great.

Chris
