hi, getting this message on my c220 2009

Also the indicator relay seems to go at double speed when i put on the left indicator sometimes..... so is the bulb gone, or is this an LED?

Does anyone know what type of bulb/LED it is?

thanks

If you have folding wing mirrors, it could very well be a broken wire in the loom between the A pillar and the LED.

Not a huge task as such - remove glass and cover, then use soldiering iron to fix the broken wire - Olly PCS did is for my car in about 15 minutes....

yeah i have the folding mirrors, sounds like hassle if its a broken wire, ill have to open it up and have a look.....

There are quite a few threads about this, if you search the forum, including the thread where I asked the very same question about a year ago...

Took the mirror housing cover off - cannot see any immediate damage to wires? Whereabouts exactly were the broken wires in yours Markjay?

What i did notice is a fair bit of condensation in the clear plastic part - as compared to the drivers side which is totally clear

Should i attempt to take out the actual LEDs themselves to see if they are gone??

Appreciate any help :)

You probably won't be able to see the damage to the wire, as it'll be inside the insulation of those wires wrapped in tape and in the place where it flexes when the mirror folds. You need to either follow the wires from the repeater connector or test them with a continuity tester. It almost certainly won't be the LEDs.

One thing i dont understand is if the wires are broken then how come the indicator is flashing whenever i turn it on?? Quite strange

Anyway i will try and have a closer inspection of the wires - thanks

So i finally got back to this. Tested all wiring going to the mirror and its fine. I double checked that the indicator was working but it is now not working - so maybe it was intermittent, i dunno ?

So does anyone know where i would get a mirror housing cover with the LED or is it possible to order just the LED section and replace that?

thanks

LED section is available from your dealer. It screws into the cover and cover goes back on (and plugs into the blue connector in your picture)

Bought an LED indicator/blinker from an MB dealer 2 weeks ago - costs about £21 from an MB dealer, so not as expensive as you think.

Was it water ingress? Seen quite a few subjected to this but not failed yet.

Hi

possibly yeah - reason i say this is because there is condensation on the see-thru plastic
Ill have to make sure its properly sealed when installing a new one

Apologies for bringing up an old thread but does anybody have the part number I need as this has happened to me also?

I've spoken to my local dealer but they want to replace the whole thing and charge me £135 for the pleasure. Looks like a 2 minute job to fit so I don't mind ordering online and fitting it myself.

Need a VIN number and which side (right or left) mirror indicator is bust

They changed with various facelifts

Cheers

Hi My w211 350 cdi 2004 with folding mirrors. Checked the wiring for mirror indicator not working...3 wires of 4 broken. All same color (black) and size. Wires coming from the terminal has markings 1,2,3,and 4
Exposed the wires going into the loom approx 6cm looking for numbers so that I may be able to connect the correct wire. Now I am totally at loss, do not know which wire to connect to which one.
Please help!! Any help in this regards shall be highly appreciated.
