It is likely that your car is not fitted with the optional COMAND satnav unit which is the flagship satnav model for Mercedes-Benz.

In this case it will have pre-wiring for the entry level Becker Map Pilot satnav. The BMP unit is a small black box that fits into a slot at the top of the glove compartment.

You can purchase a new or used BMP unit online from Amazon and eBay, of from the 'For Sale' section on this forum.

....later MB model had an SD Card slot for the Garmin Map Pilot software, replacing the Becker unit:

However you car being a 2014 model will most likely have the slot for the Becker unit in the glove compartment rather than the SD slot for the Garmin software.

My late 2013 C180 has the SD slot in the headunit, but the map is TomTom.

It's never been updated and when I asked at the dealers they didn't seem to know much about the update procedure and where very cagey about it.

I've looked on the Command site and it looks like its £220 for the disk and PIN, but not sure if this is what I need.

Do you have COMAND with an SD Slot? If so then the SD Slot is for music and uploads.

TomTom provide the live traffic data on newer models, but the COMAND maps (and the navigation software) are not TomTom. Can you post a picture of the unit you have an screen?

Yeah thinking about it, it is TomTom Traffic. I don't have a pic of the unit at the moment, not where you can see the slot anyway. So I guess it's the Comand software that I need.

Thanks MarkJay, that's what I thought.

Note that in addition to purchasing the maps DVD you also need to purchase a PIN code from a Mercedes Benz dealer, otherwise you will not be able to load the maps from the DVD onto the COMAND unit.

how much is the pin code do you know ?

That's where they get you, £150, so £219 to update the SatNav.

Edit: and that's from the guys at Comand.
