Hi I can't open the car with key but I press open and the small red light comes on the manual says if I have no light then it's batteries . Opened the car with metal key and doesn't work in ignition it won't turn any ideas , car has been running fine daily driver

EIS or key.

You don't need batteries in the key for the ignition to work as it uses an induction system.

Also check your car battery is still good.

You need to get it to someone with a star machine.

You could also leave key in EIS let it sink too car again it can take up to two hours or more

Strange it happened when it happened to me it was EIS. And I had too get a new one
When you put key in EIS those it click or not

As above no battery's needed but I would replace

Have you dropped the key as you may have broken one of the parts of the board in key

Keep us posted

I would charge battery or replace

The only thing I have ever hear is the electric seats causing a drain

But I bet some one with more experience in w203s will be along soon

My car went in for battery drain, it turned out to be the alarm siren was draing the battery. I also had to change the battery. I jumped started mine, but I have been told that you shouldn't jump mercs

You can jump Mercs their is a sequence in doing it and if not done right you will cause damage

And can be a expensive mistake so people just say don't

I have never had a problem although I try to just connect the batteries and attempt to start without the other car running.

Jump started and drove into town and back now starts ok

Battery was replaced 2 yrs ago by previous owner so not going to replace battery , is also mb one ,

Going to see if happens again before I investigate a drain

When it did start a malfunction of vehicle light sensor

Maybe was because of low voltage it's now gone after restart

If it drains again I will pull fuse on memory seats and see if drains then , weird as daily driver and should not go flat

Thoughts welcome

Bill

Mine did the same, jumped it drove around for few days/weeks with no probs, then it would die and it slowly got worse.

I also tried pulling the connections to the seat modules. No good.

The drain could be a number of things.

Jump started with lower cranking power and made sure blower was on to take any spike , advice from Simon autotecnic and it was fine to start

Mmmmm I recon it won't be miraculously fixed but drains could come from anything your right main things are memory seat or comand fan or something like that , the best way to find out info not know how :(

If I pull the mem seat fuse this should be able to isolate hey ??????

Get a decent multimeter on there and pull all the fuses one by one until the current draw drops to under 0.1 amps...Only 5-10 minutes work.

Might be red herrin but I took out the tv tuner over 1 month ago
