URGENT CANT UNLOCK CAR c32

Great to hear you got it started I could not tell you too do it as if you did it wrong

You would have a bigger headache

Check battery voltage with engine running and then not running

With cold weather the battery if it was breaking down would happen quicker

Lets hope it as a once off

Keep us posted

Don't forget to check that you have not left the boot light switched on. Also make sure that when you pull the ignition key out the A/C fan blowers inside the car stop. This was the problem in my father in laws Merc. A blown relay left the fans running with the engine off and keys out.

Some fuses can be left in place they have two holes on the top each end if you put prongs in each end you can get a reading of load

Just to be sure if the TV Tuner was on a separate fused feed bob that out too.

Sorry if you have already done that.

Not really unless the battery feed is floating around uninsulated

Well the plugs that plug into tv tuner are left hanging going nowhere if that's what you mean

How could that drain a current ???????

Also the DVD player is disconnected from tv tuner as I have removed the tuner

As a noob to car electrics can someone take the time to talk me through looking for the drain with multimeter

A simple way without having to pull any fuses or disconnect battery is to wait for the car to go "to sleep". Leave the care unlocked with doors, bonnet and boot open (open not just unlocked). After 30 mins all of the various sensors and ECU's should have switched off, then take a multimeter and set to milli volts and measure across the fuse (put a probe on each leg of the fuse) and look for current that is flowing through the fuse. Make a note of any fuses that have current flowing and check which ones they are.

good idea mate, shall i tape down the boot light switch or take out the bulb

For the seat module just unplug the lead under the seat that shoul tell you if it's that.:D

Remove neg term put one lead to that and the other to battery term if you get a reading above .01 you've got a drain take out one fuse at a time 'till reading go's, whatched mech do it on mine

Thanks I think sav man is best option for me as it should be faster than pulling each fuse there are a lot

Sav man would the above method work better or same outcome ?

Good job my gfs ford is reliable as she is about to have a baby well in the next 2 weeks lol can you imagine that , go out to the merc to go to hospital an ...... Doesn't open lol

When i had a similar problem to prove that the boot light went out,I used my camera on video mode and that will tell you if goes black, the switch is ok

Supposed its easier than putting the back seats down if they go down genius :)

99/100 same outcome and the method described by danandgerry is the traditional way to test. The reason I was told to use the fuse method was one ease and two that cars now have many interconnecting units with various sam units and multiple control units that pulling an adjacent fuse can actual change the condition of a faulty device even if it is not directly powered by that fuse. So when you then pull the affected device's power you don’t see any change in voltage so presume its not faulty, by leaving the fuses in and measuring across the fuse you do not change the current draw only measure it.[/FONT]

Thanks for help will post results tomorrow when I am getting handy with multimeter lol whilst crawling in the back of car seats to see if my boot light stays on lol ,,,, f ing mercs ha ha
